“The taco thing started because we thought it would be funny, but we eventually dropped off with the jokes because we realized it was sort of iffy to have an elf who’s not from Mexico become famous for inventing a Mexican food.

But at the same time, the taco jokes were such a big part of the beginning of the story and Taako’s arc, and it would seem like a missed opportunity or dangling thread not to address his quest to create the taco in the end…

So we’re just gonna have it actually be Taako’s destiny to be the first person on his plane to make tacos after being taught by a Mexican cook from a plane where Mexico exists. Oh and also doing so will give him such an unbelievable surge of magic power that he can open a portal to the afterlife and reunite with his boyfriend, booyeah”
