Welcome to Firefly’s list of astral places. I always get asked about good places to check out in the astral and I have a huge list of places I personally love to visit in the astral. After a bit of asking around I’ve decided to come up with mini post on tumblr about places in the astral you can try to visit! Please keep in mind a lot of this is my UPG and experiences in these places. So here we go with the first place!
MARKETS OF BASTAL
The Markets of Bastal looks like a market place from a sci-fi movie or show. It’s very packed together and is full of markets. There is a ground floor that trains run through carrying shipments from place to place. The Markets of Bastal is jammed pack filled with markets of all sorts that will take currency or do trades. It’s ran by all sorts of spirits and you can find all kinds of people there. They do have a darker district that’s only talked about in whispers because of what goes on in the market. Nobody is really sure what got the market started just that it started and it’s been around for a very long time. There is a small council that run the markets that nobody knows much about, just that they are there and the police of the markets will be dispatched if anybody causes problems for shop owners or visitors.
There are a ton of shops like I said, rows and rows of shops that are full of life. Whatever you need you can find here. It’s one of the best places around for everything and anything. My personal favorites are the clothing and tea shops.
CURRENCY:
All sorts of astral money is accepted here. Some places will only sell via trade. There are small “booths” that are set up for you to trade currency as well if you need to. These are typically ran by various ram like spirits who have sharp eyes that stare into your soul.
SPIRIT CULTURE THERE:
There are all kinds of spirits in the markets. You can find all kinds of spirits and various cultures. It’s a good place to meet spirits and see other cultures and customs there.
SAFE FOR BEGINNERS?:
I would say yes, the main areas are great and I personally love them. This is where I started out when I decided to go and explore the astral. It’s very friendly and there is a lot to learn and see here. it’s the first place I suggest to people who are just starting to leave their astral and explore more astral realms.
Recently after the problem that @pippenthe-astralkid encounter I thought it could be a good idea to give you ideas of wards you could create around your astral space (or even around your house, or as a shield around you). So here we go ! Don’t hesitate to add your ideas in the comments or in reblog !
• A ward against entities who have bad intentions toward you and your spirits companions That’s like THE BASIC lmao, I think everyone should have multiple of this ward. Because yes, you have to have multiple wards with the same purpose I think.
• A ward against teleportation Because that way spirits can’t teleport directly in your house and pop up at random time, they’ll be forced to just walk and knock at your door. I think it’s more safe that way !
• A mirror-ward The mirror ward will reflect all the negativity such as curses, jinxes, hexes, bad intentions, bad vibes etc and will just re-send it to the person who sent it to you.
• A ward against nightmares It’s really amazing when you made a nightmare and you’re terrified haha. I use it more than I should probably but it’s so good honestly.
• An emergency ward This ward is REALLY REALLY IMPORTANT ! It’s always good to have emergency ward that you can activate if something goes wrong. For example a ward that will banish every spirit except your spirit companions of your astral space if you activate it. It’s amazingly useful and will save you a lot believe me haha
• An illusion ward (or invisibility ward) That ward will create an illusion to spirit that have bad intentions toward you or your companion, so that way for example they can’t see your house and will just pass their way.
• A bell-ward This ward act a bit like an alarm, it will send you a signal in your mind that someone just passed through your ward. So that way you can know when someone is coming and who it is !
• A ward for purification That way your space is always clean and neat ! Don’t forget to cleanse your ward because otherwise it will be full of negativity and will attract it.
• A labyrinth ward It’s kind of a trap ward, if someone try to enter in your wards by breaking them, this ward will activate and they will be sent into a labyrinth. When they’ll find the end of the labyrinth it will send them far far away of your astral home ! This ward is pretty hard to build but it’s really amazing once you have it.
Anyway, those are mostly wards that I use even if I have a lot more. Don’t forget that you can ask the help of the elements to build your wards ! You can also ask the help of spirits sometimes if they’re wishing to, and please be safe. Also don’t build wards if you feel tired or if you’re in a bad mood !! That’s really important and you need to take care of yourself first. Don’t hesitate to add ideas on this list 💕 I wish you all the best !
Upon request, I was to explain the DNA of my servitor I recently posted.
Anyway, basically, the symbol you see at the top is the “programming” symbol.
It is basically the servitor’s sigil, and on paper, it represents the servitor. Mine looks moderately like my servitor’s final form. You will put it on things instead of it’s name. You should put it on the housing unit.
The stuff that you are probably MORE wondering about is what I created institutionally. I took inspiration from a family tree and kind of chromosome they taught in biology. A road map. A recipe.
Each of the symbols represent something that makes up the servitor’s “physical” body. Basically, each symbol represents a combination of herbs and plants that will be put in its creation jar/housing unit.
The top two symbols are the very base of the servitor. The symbol on the left is the symbol for my mix of herbs. The symbol on the right is the programming symbol above, and in this case, it represents the very fiber of the servitor; basically the “brain” of the servitor, if you please. The personality center. The red line ties the two together and is the very base of the servitors everything. This is Level One.
The three lines coming from the base is the servitors jobs and main duty to me. It’s purpose in life. From left to right: protection, hunting, and friendship. Again, these symbols have a connected mix of herbs. This is Level Two.
So you see here how you have a red line connecting protection and hunting, with two lines leading to other symbols? The red line connecting protection and hunting is basically categorizing them and grouping them together. The two lines leading down are traits that the servitor will need to complete these duties. These are his abilities. The left one is strength, and the right one is courage. With the herbs mixes that correspond with the symbols, it will have its abilities.
The same is the case for the friendship duty. Since it doesn’t have something else to connect with, it is its own categories. The abilities the duty needs to succeed (left from right) are healing, happiness, and peace and harmony. The “ability” level is Level Three.
But if you keep going to the next level, you see that all of the abilities are linked/grouped together. Level Four are the symbols of the things you want to come out of the servitor using its abilities. By putting these in there, and by putting their corresponding herb mixes in the housing unit, it tells point blank the servitor it will get from using its abilities. A goal for the servitor basically. Mine are luck and success.
Now, look to the right and you see a red line from the servitor’s symbol down to the bottom, not connecting to anything else. Level Five is basically anything else you need to make your servitor successful. This can range, but I at least suggest manifestation as one if you want it around a while. From top to bottom we have immortality, manifestation, and youth.
So, in summary:
Level One: The brain of the servitor
Level Two: The duties of the servitor
Level Three: The abilities they need to do the duties
Level Four: What the servitor will get when they use the abilities
Level Five: Other things needed to make the servitor functional.
You can add/change the duties, abilities, the “prize” and the other functions, but Level One will ALWAYS be who the servitor is working for and the servitor.
FINALLY, you have the key.
Basically, the key has the meaning of the symbol, the symbol, and the herbs they represent.
These are Frequently Asked Questions I get about astral. Please check this guide before asking me questions concerning astralling! This will be updated regularly, as I receive more questions.
What is the astral?
Note that this is MY definition: I consider the astral to be absolutely everything; our plane of existence, spirits’ planes of existence, pop culture realms, etc. The astral is everywhere and everything.
How does astral travel work?
When you travel, a small portion of your consciousness leaves your body.
This consciousness manifests as its own body on the astral, or it could “awaken” in an astral body you already have. In travel, you do not see/hear/feel/think as clearly as you do during projection, simply because only a portion of your consciousness has left your body.
What is astral travel versus astral projection versus OBE?
Note, again, these are MY definitions:
In astral travel, a PORTION of your consciousness leaves your body and is able to explore other realms.
In Astral Projection, nearly your entire consciousness leaves your body. Astral projection is much harder to achieve than travel. This is the “gold standard” of astral travel, where you see/hear/feel/think with complete or almost complete clarity.
In an OBE, Out-of-Body-Experience, your consciousness FULLY leave your body. As of right now, I do not believe this is possible without a near-death experience, or actual death.
What are some ways to astral travel?
Meditate.
Guided meditations
Trance
Have a spirit you know and trust “pull” you into the astral.
(Visualization) Imagine a door. Imagine/focus on what is on the other side of the door. Walk through it.
(Visualization) Imagine an X (pool, mirror, etc). Imagine/focus on what is on the other side of X. Walk through it.
Lucid Dreaming
“Splitting”: Imagine a copy of yourself hovering above you. Notice your consciousness in your own body, then “jump” your consciousness into that copy of yourself floating above you. Proceed to go where you want.
What are some ways to astral project?
Just….keep practicing astral travel, maybe try new methods. I highly recommend reading Astral Dynamics by Robert Bruce, I have literally NEVER EVER found a more comprehensive, extremely informative, and yet still beginner-friendly and not overly complex guide to astral travel/projection.
Differentiating “true astral” from imagination?
True Astral:
will always have external interactions that are not in your own head; entities talking/living their own lives whether your imagination/consciousness directs them to or not. Entities moving independently of your will.
Spirits (good or bad) being able to follow you back home, to your physical body and interact with you there
Unexpected/Unpredictable occurrences happen
You get injured and it may hurt your astral body and maybe feel it a little physically too. Injury damages your magical abilities/astral abilities
Your astral body can die and you won’t be able to access “true astral” until you regenerate.
You can meet other humans consciously. As in, you can text your friend and meetup on the astral together, and talk about it IRL afterwards.
Imagination:
You are in full control of everything.
What you expect to happen, will happen
Entities are like puppets or dolls; they don’t move around unless you imagine them doing so, and if/when they interact with you, it’s things you expected them to say
You will not tire, or will tire extremely slowly.
You die/get extremely hurt and nothing happens. You can regenerate at will/heal whenever and wherever you want.
You talk to your friend, then you talk to them later IRL and they have no idea what you talked about.
Why do people always imagine common fantasy stuff when astralling? Don’t you think astral and what happens there is just your imagination and happens in your head? I mean strangely all the people who talk about astral experiences describe common fantasy stuff. I’d say if astral was real it would contain a lot of stuff people can’t even imagine, and yet everyone describes dragons, elfs, etc, that which their mind already knows, nothing out of ordinary. Isn’t this suspicious?
One reason people generally imagine common fantasy is stuff is because that’s what most people care about, and thus go to. It’s hard to care about a species that humanity has never even encountered before, isn’t it? Also, how can you visit the realm of something you have never even heard of/can’t imagine before? Astral travel needs knowledge of where you will go to, so it’s pretty hard (and probably super dangerous) to just say “take me somewhere beyond my imagination.”
There’s also the problem of perception: during astralling, the mind usually replaces things you don’t know with things you do know of, to use less energy while astralling. While you can force your brain to show “the truth”, the more the thing you are trying to look at is beyond your imagination, the more energy and effort it will take to see “the truth”.
How do you do astral laundry?
Note: Not limited to this list.
Have a companion you’re comfortable with seeing you nude do your laundry for you.
Astral travel two feet away from your earth self, take your astral clothes off, put them in your washer/dryer (with your astral self or earth self), physically run the washer/dryer (you can wash other clothes with it). Take your clothes out, travel again and put your clothes back on.
Destroy your clothes and remake clean ones.
How do past lives affect current astral shenanigans?
You might appear as one of your past life forms/bodies. Spirits from your past lives could also attempt to find you on the astral (whether malicious or friendly, so always be cautious).
How to meet spirits on the astral?
Tl;dr:
1. Be able to astral and able to distinguish between astralling/imagination.
2. Go somewhere with spirits.
How to safely meet spirits on the astral?
There is no 100% guarantee of safety when astralling.
Some suggestions are:
Have spirit guides/guardians/protective companions take you somewhere safe
Actually know where you are going and who you want to meet
How do you keep possibly malicious spirits/entities/beings from following you back home?
This is what wards in your living space/where you are when you astral are for. Wards can fuddle your energy signature from being found by spirits you don’t want to find you.
Make sure you “come back” correctly; that you walked back through your imagined door, imagined yourself falling back into your physical body, whatever.
Do a centering exercise, which will help you “pull back in” trace amounts of energy you left where you went when astralling. Do make sure your wards are up first, to make sure nothing follows the “pull” back to your physical body. If you don’t know what centering is/how to do it, check the “energy work” section of my FAQ/my energy work FAQ post.
Manners/social etiquette/social skills in the astral?
Obviously those will vary a LOT based on where you go. I literally can’t write a comprehensive guide as the astral is home to a limitless number of cultures.
But some things to keep in mind are:
Don’t fight every single thing you see ever. Don’t try and provoke fights with every single thing ever. Retribution is a thing and the majority of spirits have the advantage when fighting in the astral.
Just because something looks scary doesn’t mean it’s out to get you.
Observe the culture, maybe talk with some of the nicer (and not trickster) locals who can tell you the Do’s and Don’ts of their culture.
Heeeeeeey people keep talking about different places in the astral and are they alternate locations all on the same plane or are there alternate astral planes with alternate inhabitants?
There are alternate astral planes with their own inhabitants, and alternate locations on the same plane.
Example of the former: We are on earth. Heaven exists on its own plane of the universe.
Example of the latter: We are on Earth. An alternate location on our plane of existence would be Venus.
Is it possible for entities/other people to drag you into the astral (forcefully or not)?
Absolutely, both people and entities can bring you to the astral. And they can do it forcefully or consensually (consensually obviously takes a lot less energy).
————————————————————————–
This will be updated every once in a while. Again, please check this FAQ before you ask me any questions concerning this, please ^-^
Before i start i would like to make it clear that this post is almost entirely UPG (Unverified Personal Gnosis) mostly formulated from first hand experience, extensive reading of others’ experiences, and some things spirits have shared with me. After spending some time in the astral and traveling out of body I wanted to come to some way to describe and talk about my experiences.
This is all just a collection of my thoughts on how astral travel and
like practices might work that I’ve developed to make talking about
these things easier. Take it as you will.
Dimensions and planes:
When heading out of body, where exactly are you going and what part of you is it that is traveling there? This is one of the most fundamental questions that need to be answered when you start going out of body.
What I have come to learn is that we are multi-dimensional beings. We
don’t just exist on in the physical dimension, but we are on
one plane. For this post I’m going to refer to the plane of existence we are on as
the “earthly plane.” This plane, like us, passes through a more than
just this physical dimension (the 3rd dimension / 3D for short).
Plane can passes through many different dimensions as well as other planes. This overlap between some planes make them easier to get to. For example, some Faerie realms/planes pass through and/or run parallel to our own. Which is why cultures here on the earthly plane tend to have lots of interactions with Faeries and their lore.
Beings can exist on only few dimensions of a plane or even just one. We are lucky enough to have aspects of our being that can traverse these other dimensions of our realm and other planes far out in the universe. In my experience lots of spirits tend to dwell in higher dimensions on our plane that we consider to be mythical as well as some that are seemingly made up entirely. These spirits tend to stick to their higher dimension and avoid this 3D because energies and rules here are far more rigid, but occasionally they will dip down here for a little fun. Our psychical senses can be a thrill for spirits that can manifest here.
This post is meant to just be the basics of my view on dimensions and planes, so I’ll go into further detail on the specifics in other posts.
Here is a simple 2D diagram to help explain what i mean:
It is by no means an accurate diagram of where these planes or located or anything about them. This is merely a tool to explain this theory and what i mean when I say they move upwards through dimensions as well as how they cross and pass close to other planes. Not all planes are perfectly uniform and straight like in my diagram. They are warped by everything on them.
Astral travel and the Astral self:
We as beings have multiple “bodies” or parts of our selves that are
based on and can travel through these other dimensions. These other
dimensional aspects of our person are also when gives us our
“psychic” senses since they are constantly perceiving these dimensions
when our psychical senses are not.
These bodies are all connected by what I call a “soul cord” since when I look at it, I can sometimes see it tying a person to their astral body as well as other parts of them self. The soul cord acts as an umbilical cord connecting all aspects of ourselves to our soul or higher selves. I believe that it is this higher self/soul aspect of who we are that is the collective experiences of all our lives we have lived.
One of these bodies is our astral body, and it is the body most people use when traveling outside of their physical form. Our astral self as it’s name suggests dwells mostly on the astral plane. The astral is a MASSIVE plane that expanses many different dimensions and planes. It’s why lots of creatures on the astral are very foreign to us as 3D earthly beings.
The astral is like a massive ocean connecting a bunch of other planes of existence and our astral body is the boat we use to let our consciousness travel it, and like the ocean with out a good map you end up wondering aimlessly until you collide with something. This is what happens to a lot of first time time astral travelers. They go out and hope they find something but more often then not they just end up swimming through the astral and stumbling across stray beings that might of help them. It’s this type of blind exploration that makes the astral something some people fear traveling across.
Under most normal circumstances nothing bad will happen to a person on the astral and even if something does go wrong it is extremely unlikely to come back to you here and have any impact. Almost everything on the astral is there with a purpose minding it’s own business, and if you have one too and don’t mess with things you don’t understand you will be perfectly fine.
Almost everyone experiences astral travel differently, so it’s best to find a way that works for you. It took me a long time to get out of body, but it first happened intentionally when I got a trusted spirit to help pull my astral body away from my physical body.
Moving between dimensions and planes (basics):
As I said above, astral travel/projection are one method of traveling between dimensions & planes but they are not the only ones. There are many ways of getting to other planes and not all of them give you access to the same places. Some planes have strict “doorways” in and out that you will have to figure out yourself or be invited by someone else to use.
Proximity to a plane plays a role in how easily you can move between them. Planes that intersect tend to be fairly simple to astral project too with enough know how. The astral plane is massive, it connects many planes and passes through most dimensions (as far as I understand) so my diagram version of the astral does not do it’s size justice.
The dominant types of energies in a person’s system will also dictate where they end up when they start traveling out of body. I find that without focusing on a place to go I either end up in a void layer/plane or some watery plane for this reason.
In my experience, what dimensions a plane is on/passing through will change the rules or laws of that plane mostly in regards to things like the way the energies on
that dimension move and are expressed. The higher up you go the more
abstract things get. I’ve also noticed that methods of communication spirits might use tends to change depending on what dimension their from/on. For example, I find that spirits on the upper 4th to 5th dimensions tend to use empathic or telepathic forms of communication where spirits close to the lower 4th and 3rd dimension tend to be more verbal.
