~The purpose of a ritual bath is to cleanse yourself, both inside and out. It is a rite in and of itself. Here is a general outline of what a ritual bath might consist of:
The bath water can be infused with salts, herbs, and/or oils that are in harmony with your purpose.
Candles are lit – these too are chosen for color and scent that are appropriate to the moment. Also to set the mood and create an atmosphere of sacred mystery.
Incense might be burned as well, to infuse the room with a specific aroma, to cleanse the room with the smoke, or as a fragrant offering to a deity.
Music can be used to aid with meditation or visualization.
Holy Water (if you have it) can be added to the bath water, or used as a rinse when the bath is complete.
Some people like to have a glass of wine to drink and offer as an offering or libation to a chosen deity.
Try to include each of the four elements. Fire (candle, heated water), Earth (salt, herbs), Air (incense, aroma), Water (the bath itself). Think about them as you use, light, or immerse yourself in them.
~Suggested Procedure:
When you light the candle, visualize the element of fire blessing you with warmth and light. When you light the incense, again, visualize the fire element. Then, as the smoke begins to rise, gently blow the smoke and concentrate on the element of air that breathes through you to gently move the fragrant smoke. Turn on the water and think about water, how it moves in the oceans, falls from the sky, and is now here – for you. Add your bath ingredients to the water as it flows into the tub, remembering the precious earth that nurtured the plants, and upon which you now stand.
As you lower yourself into the bath, relax and enjoy the warmth of the water and the scents in the air. If you have music playing, allow yourself to drift in the melodies. Relax and totally open yourself so that any negativity, sorrow, angst, worry, anxiety, anger, stress, etc. can be released. Just let it all go.
When you feel you are ready, pull the plug and stay in the tub until all the water has drained. As the water is draining, visualize and know that the negative energies that are now in the water are going into the Earth and are grounded. If you did not add Holy Water to the bath, you can pour it on yourself now.
When you rise up out of the tub, you can do a self blessing. Here’s a really simple one that feels really good, especially if you say it several times: “I bless myself I bless myself I am I am”
If you have a chosen deity that has been invited to or invoked as part of your ritual, you can change the above blessing to fit. For example: “She blesses me, She blesses me, I am, I am"
If you have wine, and wish to do so, now is the time to pour a libation to the deity and drink some of the wine. Then dry yourself off, clean up the bathroom, take the remaining libation outside to return it to the earth. And the rite is ended.
This spell is to cleanse yourself of any negative energy or whatever energy you wish to be gone. Best performed on a waning gibbus moon, Saturdays, Spring time. Draw a bath and combine any of these ingredients:
Light black candles around the bath, you can also line the tub with hematite, smokey quartz, clear quartz, jet, black onyx, black obsidian. If you wish, you could cast a circle of salt lining the tub.
✴
As you bathe, close your eyes and imagine the negative energy being drawn out of you, heavy black sludge is being pulled to the drain. Think about how you want this energy gone forever, imagine a white warm light starts filling you at your heart and spreading to the rest of your body, pushing away the negativity, you feel lighter. Meditate on this for as long as you wish.
✴
Let the black candles burn out (you can blow them out if you’re short on time).
✴
When you drain the tub, the negative energy will swirl into the drain and be “destroyed” as if it were a black hole, never to return.
✴
Close the circle if you casted one.
✴
Drink some water and eat fruit to restore your energy and relax.
• stressed? lavender (often comes paired in bath solutions with chamomile) bubble bath and white candles
• studying for an exam/work presentation? citrus sage bath for wisdom and success. Green and yellow candles.
• feeling a bit touchy feely or need glamour for attraction/appeal? vanilla bath stirred with a cinnamon stick. Red (cinnamon or strawberry, perhaps?) candles.
• need personal healing? stir in eucalyptus mint Epsom salts (not for diabetics!) Blue candle
Rain water (if you don’t have this, use filtered water or tap water)
Rosemary (just the leaves, no stems)
A few drops of essential oil; use which ever scent that will make you the happiest
A small pinch of salt (you’ll want it to dissolve)
Lavender
Chamomile
A bowl
A wash cloth
Put the water into a bowl. Add the essential oil, the salt and the herbs. Take a wash cloth and rub the spell water on your skin. While doing so, I want you to imagine all of your troubles, all of your baggage being washed away by the cleansing water. You can bathe however much you are comfortable with, whether it be your whole body or just patches. Continue to bathe until you are feeling cleansed and relaxed. If you have water left over, strain the herbs from it and deposit them in the trash, and dump the water outside or down the sink.
YOU NEED:
•About 5 tea bags of any black tea (I like earl grey because it smells nice)
•About 3 leaf things from an aloe plant
•A container that holds about a liter of water
•Water
Boil the aloe leaves in about a liter water for about 10 minutes or until you think the water has mixed with enough aloe. Take out the leaves if you want clean up to be a little easier but if you want to bathe with the leaves go for it. Wait for the water to cool and pour it into a container and add the tea bags. Allow it to sit for about 30 minutes. Run a bath and add this mixture in with it and leave the tea bags in there too. Take as long of a bath as you wish and rinse everything off when you’re done.
This works so well to relieve sunburns and make it fade faster. The tannin in the tea works wonders for burns. If you have any spots that are worse than others you can just press the tea bags on it and make a compress. I hope y’all get as much use out of this as I do!
