Squish! That! Cat!
I considered myself to be well versed on cats/communicating with cats. I’ve lived with at least two cats my whole life, and currently live with two very different cats who I love. Apparently most cats are shoulder cats? My cat Mason has always been very nervous about going up on people’s shoulders, so I thought I’d try the “shoulder cat” technique.
I had to help him up on my shoulders because he’s never done it himself before. But once I got him up there I squished him, he started purring like nobody’s business. I carried him around our entire apartment, up and down staircases, and he was so happy. He didn’t try to leave once! When I put him down he head butted me and meowed and was super affectionate. And of course I gave him a treat.
TLDR- Even if you live with cats and think you understand cats, please watch this video.
This is honest to god one of the best videos I’ve ever seen

What sounds like a dramatic breakup but is actually me frustrated my cat woke me up and gave me the worst scratch
Step one: let him hide or shy away from you if he wants to. He wouldn’t let me touch him for a couple days after we got back from the shelter. It was more important that he felt comfortable than that I touched him.
Step two: make yourself nonthreatening. In my case this meant being very quiet, bringing food and lying down on the ground within his eyesight as an invitation to investigate.
Step three: watch his body language and don’t do things that make him uncomfortable. Turns out my cat often bit when he was overstimulated so I made sure not to overwhelm him.
Step four: draw lines, but not with brute force. Even though his biting wasn’t meant to hurt, it was eventuallto be harmful. So I decided when he bit me, I’d yelp “ow!” And then withdrew all physical contact for a few minutes, sometimes leaving the room.
Step four: provide a good outlet for destructive behaviors. Aka PLAY WITH HIM, SEVERAL TIMES A DAY.
Step four: be patient.
Step five: get lucky and somehow pick up the best cat in the entire shelter. I don’t know how it happened but he’s a godsend. He’s literally cuddled me out of a panic attack. We both really needed each other.
Description: For when you are stressed and need love to feel ok.
Materials:
Amethyst (small)
Cat
Catnip (optional)
Chamomile Tea
Pillows
Blankets (optional)
Notes:
Charge your amethyst beforehand.
You may substitute any pet.
In the event that your furry friend has passed you may substitute a stuffed animal or visualize them. You should also look up a purr simulator in youtube.
Instructions:
Brew the chamomile tea.
Perform any pre-spell rituals.
Place the amethyst under a pillow you will be resting on.
Call your cat. You may need to tempt them to come over and stay with catnip spread on your chest. Wrap yourself in blankets or alternatively wrap both of you in blankets.
Pet them until they purr loudly.
Sip your tea and pet your cat. Repeat these words as necessary:
No matter what happens, my cat will still love me.
His/her purrs wash over me with their healing power,
Calming me and making me whole again.
His/her love heals my heart.
Their unconditional love is a true measure of friendship.
Notes:
This spell is best when done with a cat because a cat’s purr does having healing abilities. If you have another pet you can talk about their kisses in place of the purr, or any other aspect of them.
Take time to allow yourself to slow down and just be loved. Before I was diagnosed with my anxiety disorder, cuddling with my cat was the only way I knew how to cope.
