Smoke Cleansing. For most of us, Our first thought, Or go to would be white sage And While sage is great to use, It is to often relied on as the cure all and the only option. There are so many other herbs, and barks around us to use for their cleansing smoke that they are easy to overlook.

To clean a room from bad vibes, there´s always different methods but I like to use a simple and more personal one.

First, gather dried herbs. It´s more special if it´s your favourite, since its your room. Mint, Eucalyptus, Rosemary , Lavender Buds, you choose.

Then, you have to burn them on a old frying pan or the herbs alone if you like, just be sure to turn out the fire quickly, the point is to leave the aromatic smoke.

Pass the herbs around each corner of the room while thinking of positive energy, of things that make you happy and give you peace of mind.

Lastly, once you are finished, open the windows and place the ashes and remains in a garden or the natural soil. It´s preferable to thanks the earth for letting you use the herbs to clean your place. .゚☆゚. – Bo

Witch Tip: Cleansing with no supplies

hippydippywitchy:

Sometimes we just don’t have the time to do in depth cleansing of your home and other spaces, and not everyone can do smoke cleansing or have access to complicated ingredients.  This is why your best friend is sound ! There are countless ways to use sound to cleanse a space.

  • Bells, wind chimes, pots and pans: All of these can be used to cleanse a room by shaking, tapping, or banging them together depending on how loud you want to be.
  • Music: This can be anything from soothing mediation sounds to your favorite punk rock band. I personally choose based on what kind of energy I want to expel or put into my space.  You can play the music in your space and then stay and relax, physically clean, or just walk away and let the music do its work for however long you want.  Here is a tag full of posts about music in magic and the different meanings of different notes.
  • Metal or glass singing bowls: Now this is one that you’d have to buy, but it is a one time purchase. Singing bowls are made to let out one specific tone when you tap them or rub them with a hard object.  The vibrations are awesome for cleansing, and you can pick the tone that feels the most soothing for you.
  • Singing: Pick your favorite song and then sing it, belt it out, serenade yourself, however feels right. Not to be lame but personally I love “love like you” from Steven Universe and other SU songs because the notes are really soothing and simple to sing while physically cleaning.

A general guide to cleansing crystals

sea-lestial-dreamer:

• Cleanse crystals when you first get them to remove random, built up energies.
• Crystals used regularly should be cleansed regularly– once a month.
• Cleansing helps crystals return to their natural state– they work their best when they’re nicely cleansed and charged.

• Crystals should be cleansed more often that charged. It’s more important to cleanse them of built up energy than to just keep recharging them.

• A few crystals never need cleansing, such as Kyanite & Citrine.

Methods

Sunlight: Many crystals love sun bathing for a few hours.
• Others fade: both Rose & Smokey Quartz, Amethyst, Celestite, Citrine, Topaz, Kunzite, Fluorite, Turquoise, Aquamarine, to name a few. Opal will dry out.
Water: Visualize negative & stale energies leave your crystal as you place it under cool, running water.

Crystals with iron, such as Hematite, Magnetite & Obsidians (like Tektite) will rust in water. Halite, Desert Rose, Pink Salt, Selenite, & Malachite (again, to name a few) will dissolve. Crystals with a MOH hardness of 5 or less shouldn’t be put in water.
**This is a general guide with basic examples, so please research your crystals to see if they can be safely put in water or under sunlight etc.**

Bury it: bury it in a pot, or in the ground. Only crystals with a MOH hardness of 6 can withstand this–due to moisture & potential rain. Do research & be cautious. Keep in mind that crystals with crevices may trap dirt, whereas tumbles stones should stay cleaner.

Salt: Crystals with a MOH hardness of 7+ can generally be placed in salt water. Crystals can be placed in salt alone. Exercise caution & do research! Salt cleansing is very effective, but can ruin many crystals!

Safest Methods

Flower petals: Any petals work. Flowers have healing properties, and can transfer those. Rose & Lavender promote relaxation & healing. (safest to use petals that aren’t fresh/moist, though it shouldn’t affect crystals)

Brown rice: Safer alternative to salt; don’t reuse same rice, use once.

Other crystals: Place your crystal on top of Amethyst, in a bag/bowl with tumbled Carnelian, or surround it with Quartz.
Full moon light: Extremely safe method; suitable for countless crystals. Best to let them soak in light from moonrise– set.
Sound: Use a bell, singing bowl, or chimes. If you don’t have these, you can find plenty on YouTube. Here’s a 10 hour long Tibetan singing bowl video.
Smoke/Incense cleansing: Sage, Basil, Rosemary, Lavender, Birch Cedar, Juniper, Peppermint, Vervain, Frankincense & Myrrh are some of many options. Respect cultures– don’t smudge! White Sage is facing endangerment, and Palo Santo is also at risk.

Avoid White Sage & Palo Santo, because they are sacred plants for Indigenous cultures.
Alternatives to smoke/incense cleansing if you cannot/do not want to use something smoky *not necessarily “safe methods”*

Easy Cleansing Ritual

witchboyezra:

This ritual doesn’t require special equipment, but feel free to use some that you think are helpful. I will be adding some tips in parenthesis. I do this ritual at least once a week!

  1. The first step, of course, is cleansing the house before yourself. It’s hard to cleanse spiritually if it isn’t cleaned physically. That’s like using a face mask over a muddy face. Pick up stuff laying around, vacuum the floors, put dirty clothes in the wash (or at least in the hamper). You don’t have to scrub the floor with a toothbrush, but you’ll know when you are ready.
  2. Now here begins the fun part! Take a broom, and sweep. But don’t physically touch the ground with the broom. Visualize negative energy in whatever image you want (I use smoke) stagnant on the floor. Now as you sweep over the floor and out the door.
  3. Clap or ring a bell in the air to get out the small amount that is left and fan it outside a door or window.
  4. Now for yourself. Take a bath (in a clean tub), or a shower if you don’t have a bath tub. Add a couple drops of essential oil (a lot will irritate the skin. Cleanse your self thoroughly. Visualize the negative energy coming off your body with the soap. Wash your hair and yourself with something organic, if you can afford it. When you undo the stopper, visualize the bad energy going down the drain.
  5. Now, light some incense, open the window if it’s not uncomfortable outside, wear something loose and comfortable (or skyclad if you like), and meditate. Some people may prefer sleeping as this ritual can take a lot out of you

Cleansing Your Space Without Smoke

1.)  CLEANSING AIR SPRAY

  •   Your first and most simple way to cleanse without smoke would be to make a salt water solution (Fresh Salt Water from a Beach is a big Plus! Or reuse that snow/ Rain Water)
  • Simply mix the salt to your water until it dissolves fully.
  • Essential Oils are completely optional, Make your solution your own this is nearly a “base” Recipe but also very effective on its own.
  • Spray all around your Home, Altar, Car, Body to clear the congested energy.

2.) STEAM CLEANSING AND FLOOR WASH

 ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ OPTION ONE ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~~

Boil water, And Add herbs that work with the intention of your cleanse.

  • Sage- Clears ALL energys
  • Sweet Grass- Think “Sweet” promotes love
  • Rosemary- Love, Cleansing, Protection, Money  Your all purpose herb
  • Cinnamon: Protection, Love
  • Lavender: Peace, Tranquility, Happiness
  • Cloves: Exorcizing, Banishing negativity
  • Rue: Exorcizing, Expelling, Hex Breaking
  • Chamomile: Keeping, And Promoting peace, Happiness
  • Basil: Luck
  • Angelica Root: Protection against Malevolent spirits

(Research different herbs, Mix and Match to make YOUR Perfect blend)

Boil all of of your herbs together, Until you get a rich, Dark Color. Use this time to “add” Your intentions and energy’s into your mixture. Make your magic Happen! Take the pot and “Smudge” with the steam. All nooks, All cranny’s, All corners, All Rooms.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Now here is your “Second Option“  ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

ONCE THE MIXTURE HAS REACHED ROOM TEMPERATURE use your decoction as a Floor Wash. You can add any detergents, Or Fragrances at this time

Clean all your floors, Base boards, Window Sills, What ever feels right, Although I would always start with the Floor.

(You may want to dilute in clean water, As some herbal mixes can stain)

This gives your Home Cleansing some extra OOMPH

You can dispose of your mixture Naturally, Outside, Or down the drain, Its up to you. This is an eco friendly solution.

If you live in a place with carpet-

Baking soda + herbs + vacuum.

Baking soda is often used to clean carpets because is neutralizes odors, draws out funky skin oils, and kills bugs. Mix baking soda with cleansing herbs of your choice, spread it on the carpet and let it sit for a little (I do it for a day just because I really wanna make sure it does it) before vacuuming it up and tossing it.

(-cringes at the use of the word ‘smudge’ but saves the rant for another time-)

You can also use sound. Like a bell, or music. I have a meditation bell on my phone, it’s loud enough and I just ring it a few times in every room. Or you can clap. Or use windchimes. Or sing.

I like to play good music. Heavy loud shit to banish energetic clutter, and then something happy and hopeful like Good Old War or Fleet Foxes to make things chill and cozy. I suppose it depends on the vibe you want; anything at all would work. But don’t go SadTM

Different Ways to Cleanse

witchymashedpotatoes:

image

As we all know, there are many different ways to cleanse. You just have to find what you like, and are comfortable with. So here’s just a few ideas on how you can find your style of cleansing, but don’t forget to try your very own ideas!

Himalayan Salt Lamps

My family absolutely loves these, and I do too. These lamps are normally made from big hunks of Himalayan salt, and the natural colors are usually a mix of pink, peach and orange. But you can find special colored ones such as white and green online and even in some stores. Depending on the size, weight, and even color, the price range is usually anywhere from $15-$30 for a decent sized one. Home Depot, Bed Bath & Beyond, Staples, Micheal’s Craft Store and even Walmart have them.

These lamps cleanse the  air of dust, pollen, and electrons and replace with protons, some say. They can even increase energy levels. They’re also environment friendly. With all the good stuff is can do, no wonder it can be used for cleansing…

I have a small/medium sized one in my room, and I charge and cleanse crystals with it, and other things such as charms. I just say whatever needs cleansing/charging near it and go about my day.

Water

Note; some things should not be put into water, such as certain stones, etc.

As we all know, the Elements are known to be able to cleanse and charge objects. Water can be one of the easiest elements to cleanse with, since you can literally just put things in a bowl of water.

If you have certain stones that are safe to put into water, then try this;

1.Take a bowl

2.Put some warm water in it

3.Put some salt in the water and stir.

4.Put stone in water and let it sit.

5.Once done cleansing it, run it under water to make sure the salt doesn’t dry on the stone.

You can also cleanse things by just running it under some water (on high…if that makes any sense? Like, the water pressure is high, if you get what I’m saying.) You can even cleanse yourself with water while taking a shower. While showing, imagine all the negativity is washing away from your body, and into the drain.

Air

I think Air is one of my favorite Element to use in witchcraft. It’s powerful, but also gentle. You can cleanse objects, and yourself, by going out on a windy day and just standing/laying there. Let the wind go through you, getting all the bad energies out of you. This is also the same with charging.

Moon & Sun

People seem to normally cleanse with the sun, and charge with the moon. I personally like the Sun better, but that’s just my opinion. Charge/cleanse things by putting them under the sun/moon as let it sit there. Some people say let it charge for 24 hours, but I think letting it soak up as much of the energy it can is enough.

Dirt

The Element of Earth, you can cleanse with easily. Simply take your object, and bury it a couple inches and put dirt over it (don’t do this extremely close to your home.)

Note; you should not do this with certain objects.

Incense/Sage

There’s a lot of debate about using sage, but I’m not getting into it on this post. Certain incenses can be good for cleansing. Either using your sage/incense, cleanse your object by putting it into the smoke. You can cleanse your way like this too.

Noise/Music/Dancing

This is especially good for cleansing large areas such as rooms/buildings and spaces outside. I personally do use this way of cleansing, by using a tambourine  and/or a bell. You can also use your beautiful voice as well. Say a chant like “All negativity and evil is banished now leave” or something like that.

I was actually gonna make this post longer but im lazy af so yeah
