(Summer is, in my opinion, the season that makes spirit work the trickiest. Those hot bright days and lush foliage can make the right âatmosphereâ and frame of mind more delicate. Here are some simple ideas to help keep you feeling like your doing spirit work regularly without taxing yourself too much.)
-Leave offerings of food that goes well with the warmth of sunlight- berries, honey, breads, etc.
-Use grass clippings or other natural debris to create sigil and artistic design offerings! The wind will blow it where it needs to go!
-Lie under the sun and close your eyes and use the light filtering through your eyelids for simple divination (almost like scrying)
-Invite spirits to go on a hike or swimming with you! (Safely of course)
-Do your spirit communication in bare feet while standing on soil or grass/groundcover warmed by the sun
-This is a season to focus on using senses besides your eyes for spirit communication. I find spirit work using smell or touch/pressure particularly successful this time of year.
– Warm summer nights are perfect for stargazing!
-This is the perfect season to work with plant spirits (especially if youâre new or in a rut and need to brush up)!
-Use the splashes and drops of hose or sprinkler on a blacktop or concrete surface for divination style communication
-Take your spirits on a long car ride with the windows down and music to sing along to!
charge lip products in the sun and moon and the next day create a lip look inspired by a wish you want granted and wait until dark and blow kisses out at night

You want to get your bffl the perfect magical gift, but youâre no basic witch: you canât just buy any pack of incense and call it a day! For those of you that want to imbue a little magic into your festive gifting, hereâs our list of DIY ideas for the holidays and all year round.Â
1. Â Â Perfume. Fragrance is always a great gift option, but why not make it more personal and blend the scent yourself? This is also a great option because it allows you to easily add some magic based on the ingredient correspondences. Try out one of these ideas and then charge your creation under the full moon!Â
2. Â Â Black Bath Bomb. Weâve all seen the hypnotizing black bath bomb that took over the internet, but what better way to add extra magical umph then to make it yourself? Give a go at either this recipe or this one for the perfect bath to banish negative energy. Add an essential oil of your choice for even more magic.Â
3. Â Â Incense Cones. Just because youâre not buying a pack of incense doesnât mean you have to forgo the idea entirely. Making incense means more magic when burned then store-bought, and now you can customize it to your receiverâs needs. Use this recipe as a guide but use your own ground herbs to target what this witch needs more of in their life (hint: its probably cleansing!).Â
4. Â Â Salve or Balm. Every witch loves a gifted salve because it means they donât have to make it. These make particularly great gifts for those friends who want something practical and useful in addition to being cute (looking at you, earth signs). A great compilation of recipes can be found here.Â
5. Â Â Gem Soap. It looks as pretty as a crystal, but has an everyday use, too! Make a big batch with this recipe to give to all the bath witches in your life and all the witches with the swoon-worthy gem collections. Hell, give them to all the witches in your life because theyâre so absolutely adorable!Â
6. Â Â Bath Melts. Especially around the holidays, bath melts are great because they deliver much needed moisture to dry, irritated skin. This recipe, made with milk, honey, and almond oil, could easily be charged to attract prosperity and therefore makes a great gift for any struggling witches out there.Â
7. Â Â Smoke Cleansing Sticks. This one is for the purist friend who likes the traditional (they probably read all of Cunningham). Why reinvent the wheel when you can just give it a seasonal twist? Personal favorite of this list is the thyme and cinnamon bundle because it just screams holiday energy.Â
8.   Reading Runes. While runes are typically inscribed with the Norse alphabet, why not give a version you know they donât have with a moon phase update? Not only are they the cutest ever, but you can ascribe your own meanings! Note: the original link is under construction but general instruction can be found here.
9. Â Â Body Butter. A charged body oil post bath magic can be heavenly but it sure is messy. Upgrade your fellow witchâs ritual experience by making them a fun whipped body butter instead. This recipe uses hibiscus tea, which would be perfect for attracting love, but switch in lavender tea for protection or ginger tea for confidence.Â
Attempted a homemade healing mixture for my best friend. Itâs in a plastic tube so she can carry it around and it wonât unravel in her purse.
Bay leave, ground up sandalwood incense cone, cinnamon, rosemary and allspice.
Come here you. Come closer. Come closer still.
This is pure motherfucking genius right here. Itâs the âupgradedâ version [I say this loosely] of a magical bag.Â
I do like.
I DO LIKE.
Do like.
Can you go into details about the materials please?
I used a prerolled cone tube i saved from when I was a stoner. Filled it up, sealed it with superglue, and used a label maker to bless it.
I probably wouldnât use those myself [mostly because I just looked up the cost and noped the hell out – maybe it was just that site? Maybe Iâm just a little too cheap?]. I wonder if you could use any kind of tubingâŠ.Â
What about a regular plastic pen with the ink tube taken out?
YOU COME HERE YOU COME HERE.
You are a brilliant person for coming up with this idea, because, not only could you do that, but you could freaking put the pen tips back on and seal it and people think it was a pen.Â
Hiding in plain motherfucking sight.
I am so excite right now.Â
Or a marker or a sharpie or a mechanical pencil. Yes. YES.Â
OMG.
Inspiration spell in a pen.
Creativity spell in a pen.
ANY KIND OF SPELL IN A PEN TO MAKE EVERYTHING YOU WRITE CONNECTED.
Draw a sigil with a pen made for bringing wealth. Sign your checks, bills, receipts with it to bring you money.
SPELL IN A PEN.
On noes I can smell it. Weâre going to have that conversation again about pens, inks, and paper and how to magically do all kinds of shit with these variety of tools.
I CAN SMELL IT
I AM GETTING EXCITE.
YAAAASS! đ
Paper magic has got to be my favorite. Itâs how I started too!
I love everything going on in this conversation. Yes, good, perfect. *pulls up carpet square and listens intently, taking notes*
Uhm, Iâm not a witch myself, but my friend is and I just have a suggestion based on this.Â
What about plastic straws? You can just melt one end together, fill from the other, and melt it together too. If you used the colored ones you could have different colors for different things too? And theyâre cheap.
And like, you could put like different potion mixtures in them as well for easy sorting and stuff too right? So a friend comes to you after a bad day, and youâre like, âhere, try the purple one, itâs for peace of mind and bringing good things your way. Drink it before bed and tomorrow will be better.â
OOOOOOOOOOH
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
GOOD IDEA,FRIEND
How about this. Newsprint, clip out the relevant or positive-vibes stories so they donât skew the spell, plain flour-water paste for glue (or wallpaper paste if you can get it), soak the paper in the goop and wind it around a plastic straw or some other smooth waterproof core. Blow dry each layer before adding another. You can also add layers at the bottom for a base cap. Let the whole thing stand until bone dry, and thatâs paper mache, you can slide the straw out, paint the tube or brush words onto it, fill it with stuff and cap it with a dribble of wax.
1. Have a drink from your favourite cup/mug. Coffee. Tea. Hell, even plain water is nicer when itâs in your fave mug (and youâre probably dehydrated rn so get on that). Allow yourself the couple of minutes to drink it in entirety.
2. Visit the library. Seriously. Nothing says quiet me time like the quiet couches and a novel in a library.
3. Look up some topics on iTunes U and read up on them. Youâll feel accomplished when you learn about a new scholarly topic.
5. Call a beloved family member or close friend. I just called my aunt for the first time in a little while and honestly you feel a lot lighter and a lot warmer.
6. Listen to ASMR, Binaural Beats, or guided meditation. Thereâs ASMR and meditation videos on youtube for pretty much any needâ general relaxation, reassurance, mock spa daysâŠ
7. Volunteer at the local animal shelter. Volunteering is proven to make you feel better about yourself, petting animals helps lower your blood pressure, and nothing compares to the love and gratitude from a dog or cat.
8. Randomly browse Wikipedia or WikiHow. Clicking the random article is always an adventureâ probably a laughable one, but you might learn something new.
9. Clean out your closet. Itâll feel like a lot of weight is off your shoulders, and you can sell or donate pieces that are still in good shape.
10. Write out a list of things you like about yourself. It can be tricky at first, but write down whatever comes to mind, even though it may seem trivial. Put the list away for times when you are being too hard on yourself, or need some self love.
11. Movie night. Obviously. Netflix, Hulu, library⊠A lot of thrift and secondhand stores often have really cheap DVDs. Re-watch your faves, allow yourself a guilty pleasure, or choose something that looks laughably awful.
12. Have a bonfire. Check your local fire codes beforehand, first. A bonfire or a fire pit is extremely soothing, especially wrapped up in a blanket.
13. Meal Plan/Prep. Youâre probably going to be cooking anyway, so setting aside a day or half a day to prep meals ahead of time helps free the rest of your schedule.
14. At-Home spa day. Wash your hair. Trim your nails. Soak your feet. Exfoliate.
15. Write letters. Especially to your grandparents if youâre emotionally closeâ it will make them feel really loved.
16. Sleep in or nap. No explanation needed.
17. Bake cookies or make eggless cookie dough. One serving of edible cookie dough uses only spoonfuls of ingredients you probably have at home.
18. Wash your pillowcases and linens. This is especially good if youâre like me and the depression is real. Washing sheets gets neglected but the feeling of fresh sheets makes everything suck a little bit less.
19. Forgive yourself. Acknowledge that past mistake thatâs been eating you alive and accept the fact that you canât change the past. Youâre still growing, still learning.
20. Keep a happiness journal. Before bed, write three things that made you smile that day. Life wonât seem all that bad, and itâs a good way to de-stress.
21. Shamelessly sing and dance along to music you enjoy. That song you would TOTALLY kill on lip sync battle? Own it.
22. If you like makeup/skincare, go to your local sephora or drugstore that has a beauty section. Sephora does free mini makeovers if itâs not busy. At the drugstore makeup counter, ask the beauty questions that youâve wanted answers to.
23. Remember to say âno.â Declining to do a favour or go on an outing you canât currently justify or afford does not make you a bad person. It means you have boundaries and deserve respect.
24. Watch some game shows. Lots of channels have them, and thereâs plenty of compilations on youtube.
25. Let it out in writing. Sometimes having it all out in black and white can make solutions easier to realize.
I believe in you all! Remind yourself that youâre a good person, and a bad bitch đ
