This meditation can help you create a healthy abode. This is also a powerful meditation to repeat if your living environment regularly produces toxicity, like due to a troubling partner, being cooped up at home with restrictive parents, or if your home was a location of past trauma. It will also protect your living environment against negativity that comes in, whether it is in the form of negative energy others bring in, or (if this is part of your belief)—malevolent spirits, curses, and anything else you perceive as negative.
Unlike some previous Monday Mindfulness blogs, this meditation doesn’t require a weekly commitment. All you need to do is read this blog and try it once to feel the full shift in your living environment. On my website there are even some general “energetic upkeep” techniques that take only a few seconds to enact (and the whole blog article is there).
ROOM CLEANSING MEDITATION
First, find a quiet space and time and become settled. For this meditation it’s best to be seated in the center of the room that you wish to cleanse. If you intend to do a whole home, sit either in the largest room or sit in a central location in your home. Some people also find that this meditation is effective while standing, but you’ll want to make sure you can manage that for 5-10 minutes if you try the practice in a standing position. Laying down is also possible, but sitting tends to be a bit easier to focus during this specific meditation.
Close your eyes and practice some deep breathing in a way that best gets you ready to focus and enact an intention. At this point, you can also set your intention, perhaps saying an affirmation like “This meditation will cleanse, purify, and protect my living environment,” or “After this meditation, only energy and actions that are in my best and highest interest can exist in this space.”
Once you fully trust this intention and feel like you have reached a place of focus, you can begin the meditation. Even if your focus slips (as this istotally natural), just return back to where you left off in the meditation. It will work simply because you are acting on it, you don’t need to be a guru to have a significant effect on the energy of your environment.
Focus on the center of your abdomen, where your solar plexus chakra is. If you don’t regularly do chakra work, just focus on the strongest point in your abdomen, usually just beneath the ribs and above the belly-button. Here, imagine a bright golden, yellow, or white light forming. Feel like it is both loving and powerful, perhaps even fiery.
Ask the Universe, or your chosen Higher Power, to help fuel this energy and grow it. If neither works for you to imagine, trust completely in the infinite power of your individual self. With your eyes still closed, viewing through your mind’s eye, watch the sphere of light expand from this center.
Completely trust that the light will expand, no matter what you are feeling or thinking. It is an entity of its own, completely fueled by your intention to purify your space. As you watch, you know that this light will wholly cleanse and protect your space. It burns away all negativity and remains as a bright force to prevent anything negative from coming in.
As this light expands and begins to touch the walls of your room or home, imagine it sticking to the walls, melding to their shape and growing extremely bright. It’s almost like the light is becoming one with the walls, leaving all of the space in the center of the light (like where you are) pure and filled with positive energy.
When you visualize the light pressed against all the walls, floors, and ceilings, you can seal this light in place. During this, you can ask that this light remain here indefinitely, powered by the Universe itself, and that your final act is simply to consecrate this light into place.
To do this, visualize a bright line of light along the corners and connections between the planes of walls, ceilings and floors. For instance, picture the corner of your room, where two walls and the ceiling meet, and visually draw a line of light down from this ceiling and wall junction to the floor and wall junction, vertically below it. Then trace this light along where the floor and wall meet, and continue this throughout the space.
As this light is traced, trust that it binds the original golden or white light to the space you are in. Even if you lose focus or can’t fully picture the light around you, it still works because you set this intention for it to do so.
When you feel that you have sealed this into place entirely (even if you miss a spot, it won’t damage the meditation, the light can work autonomous of your intention), focus back on your own body. Picture yourself sitting in this space filled with warm light, bathing you in positivity. If you feel like it, stay with this part of the meditation as long as you like. It’s incredibly healing and rejuvenating.
When you finish the above step, focus on your body as you currently inhabit it, starting to return back to the conscious you have as you regularly go about your day. Perhaps wiggle your fingers and toes, roll your shoulders, and flutter your eyes gently open.
As with all visual meditation, take a second before jumping up from your seat. Stay with how you feel for a moment, then when you feel connected and grounded again, you can get up, knowing that your living environment is pure and safe!
I’ve found that this meditation is the most effective when practiced monthly, while living in a generally positive and regular apartment. When living with others, specifically someone that brings in toxicity, it might serve you to do this more often. Also, when moving to a new location, this is best done on your first day there, to purify the energy of any previous owners and to energetically claim the space as your own safe abode.
If you find yourself stressed or simply desire a different form of meditation, go ahead and pick one, or, better yet, have your tarot tell you which meditation you should do!

This is just a simple meditation type spell that uses only a handful of things to purify you of negative energy. This is particularly good for anyone who mind have a mental illness, especially those affecting one’s mood, or those that cause anger, anxiety, or fear.
You will need:
a bathtub
water
lavender or lavender bath salts (optional)
chamomile tea (optional)
at least one candle of any color
incense of any scent (optional)
This spell is broken into two parts, which can be done in any order (though I find it easier to do the physical portion first).
Physical body:
Fill a tub with warm water
Sprinkle lavender or lavender bath salts into the water (if you have any)
Get in the water, and bathe as you normally would
Say or think “I declare my body is pure and clean of negativity”
Mind and Soul:
Brew chamomile tea, and keep it nearby (optional)
Light at least 1 candle (be cautions not to light too many, and be extremely careful with them)
Light incense that calms you, any scent will do (optional)
Meditate, and focus on the candle. Remove all negative thoughts immediately, and try to clear your mind
If you used it, try to meditate until the incense burns out, but if not, whenever you feel ready and spiritually/mentally clean, you may quit
Say or think “I declare my mind and soul purified. I toss out my inner demons that have cause me strife.”
Please, always remember to be extremely cautious with fire. When you light incense, remember blow out the flame so it doesn’t just burn (in case you’ve never use incense before).
What is meditation basically? Lots of people will tell you that meditation is supposed to calm your mind.
But what will really meditation do to you is that you’ll be able to CONTROL your mind. Or at least you’ll be better at it, which is something huge, believe me. And controlled mind is a big tool in magic work.
There are 3 basic types of meditation.
1. Just observe your mind. This is something that you can do when you have time. Sit on your couch, lie on your bed – whatever feels good for you – that’s the key. Close your eyes and just try to observe what’s your mind up to. The important thing is – don’t try to think. Just let your mind exist. It almost feels like falling asleep, actually. Once you try it you can feel how freeing that moment is.
2. Be aware. Yes, awareness of your body and later, of what is happening around you. For example, try to be aware of your breathing. Focus on how you breathe. Just feel how your nostrils feel the air coming in and out. Tap on your forehead with your finger and feel the spot. Be aware of the sensation. Focus on it like nothing else exist. Just the sensation you feel on your skin.
3. Focus on one thing and one thing only with your mind. As I always say, start with something easy like an orange. Orange is easy to imagine in your mind. Picture its structure. Picture its taste on your tongue. Picture how it feels when you touch it. Basically, put together a picture of everything you know about the orange and keep mind picturing it. Feel the orange for as long as possible. If you lose your concentration, it’s alright and you did nothing wrong – we’re humans, not robots. Just try again 🙂
Questions you may ask:
Q: What if I don’t have time for meditation? I’m busy with school and work!
A: Well, of course we live in a world that needs our presence. And number 2 and 3 can be done while you wait for the bus, while you’re stuck in traffic jam, and so on. Don’t lose hope, just because you’re busy 🙂
Q: Is it really necessary to meditate?
A: Nothing is necessary, it’s your choice. But the truth is, if you choose to meditate, you’ll be able to control your mind better and it’s not only helpful in magic work. It can help you if you have trouble sleeping and so on. Helps with anxiety, too, btw.
Q: How does meditation help control mind?
A: Number 1 can teach you:
– how to be aware of what’s going on in your mind on the level you can’t reach yet. Later, you can use this new entry to your mind and analyze your psyche better.
– how to not fall asleep when you try astral traveling before going to bed.
– lucid dreaming 🙂
Number 2 can teach you:
– how to be aware of what your body wants and needs even though it can’t speak.
– how to be aware of what is happening around you in a crowd – kind of good skill to have these days, sadly.
– how to feel if something paranormal is happening around you.
Number 3 can teach you:
– how to use your willpower as a tool for your magic work.
– power of good imagination raises IQ and plain common sense.
Remember that if something isn’t going well for the first time you try, it doesn’t mean it’ll be like this forever. Things can better with practice. So don’t worry. We were all lame shits when we started.
There is something very primal about using the elements to cleanse our energetic bodies. Given we are made from the same matter as Mother Earth, utilizing the four physical elements is a way of connecting us back to our roots. And one does not have to be in the middle of a forest to utilize the power of the elements… for someone like myself who lives in a city, utilizing the four elements for cleansing the energetic body helps maintain a connection with and grounding to Gaia.
Cleansing of the energetic body should be a daily ritual. Our interaction with others and with locations and objects holding energetic fields means that the purity and balance of our energetic bodies are constantly compromised, so a regular practice of cleansing is needed for optimum spiritual, mental and physical health.
