– 2 of your favorite candles, preferably at least one should be scented
– A candle you associate with the moon (I tend to use white or grey candles)
– Your favorite show/song/thing to put on for background noise (preferably something calming)
– Tarot cards (optional)
Directions:
1. Put on your background noise and light your 2 favorite candles
(Optional step) Deal a basic “Past, present, future Tarot spread and focus on the possible positives.
2. Take 5-10 minutes to do something for yourself. Maybe tidy up a corner of your room, or make your bed. Maybe use some body butter or even brush your hair. it can be as small or as big as you like, just as long as it lets you relax as a result.
3. Light the moon candle and pick a positive mantra that you like. I always liked the simple, “It’s going to be okay. You can do it.” Focus any negative energy into the candle flame itself. Imagine it burning away your stress. Let the calm energy of the moon replace it.
(Optional step) Meditate in front of the candle for as long as you like.
4. Blow out the moon candle (or all 3 candles).
Notes: Make sure to cleanse and charge your moon candle afterwards, especially if you’ve been particularly stressed lately.
🌛 called also the “red moon” in reference to the how when the moon rises it takes on a reddish hue. it is the full moon of august, and called the sturgeon moon because of how this time is considered when fish are most bountiful.
what does that mean for witchcraft?
🐟 as the end of summer, this is a time when fish are abundant. it can be incorporated with sea magic, or river magic, with shells and sea water used in rituals. this type of magic has a lot to do with emotionality.
🌛 this is a full moon with energy influences of giving back and gratitude, not only to others but yourself as well. self care and prosperity spells work well with the influence of this full moon
This is a very simple, yet effective, little ritual that any witch can partake in! It may serve especially well for those who may not have many tools/the privacy needed to perform a more “elaborate” practice during the full moon, or witches who don’t have a lot of time.
1). Take a moment to write a list of things that no longer serve you in your life. (This could be bad habits, relationships, jobs, additions, etc… Anything that you feel is no longer beneficial to the well-being of your mind, body, and soul).
2). Fold up your list and take it outside. Look up at the moon. (Isn’t she beautiful?) Now is the time to read your list to her!
3). Once you have finished reading your list, burn it (safely, of course). Let the ashes of your paper drift away; as you do, visualize your problems flowing out of your life, no longer existing. (Other options: bury the paper ashes, or just throw the remains away).
4). Thank the moon for her time (and the universe, as well. ♡)
