Excuse me not to be stupid out loud but how do you know where the tail ends?? How can you say the tail is long when a snake is basically a head attached to a tail??? What qualifies as a long tail as opposed to a regular tail????

Because they have anatomy much like every other animal on the planet and aren’t just heads attached to tails. Tails begin at the cloaca. Long tail boas have longer tails in comparison to every other ssp. in the boa genus. 

This is an imperator, but you get the point.
