– 2 of your favorite candles, preferably at least one should be scented
– A candle you associate with the moon (I tend to use white or grey candles)
– Your favorite show/song/thing to put on for background noise (preferably something calming)
– Tarot cards (optional)
Directions:
1. Put on your background noise and light your 2 favorite candles
(Optional step) Deal a basic “Past, present, future Tarot spread and focus on the possible positives.
2. Take 5-10 minutes to do something for yourself. Maybe tidy up a corner of your room, or make your bed. Maybe use some body butter or even brush your hair. it can be as small or as big as you like, just as long as it lets you relax as a result.
3. Light the moon candle and pick a positive mantra that you like. I always liked the simple, “It’s going to be okay. You can do it.” Focus any negative energy into the candle flame itself. Imagine it burning away your stress. Let the calm energy of the moon replace it.
(Optional step) Meditate in front of the candle for as long as you like.
4. Blow out the moon candle (or all 3 candles).
Notes: Make sure to cleanse and charge your moon candle afterwards, especially if you’ve been particularly stressed lately.
This Imbolc I figured I’d give you guys a little gift! It’s a cute little spell I wrote a while back you guys might like!!
Supplies Needed: None Directions: Go up to your pet. Kiss your pointer finger and boop them on the nose or forehead, saying: “Blessed animal, Close to me, I bless you now, So mote it be!” Tell them they’re good and give them a pet!
There you go, I hope you like it! It’s short and sweet because you can’t keep pets in one place for very long. Have a great Imbolc!
Have you ever encountered those situations where no matter what you do, you just can’t seem to get things to go your way because something is blocking your path? Maybe it’s another person, or perhaps it’s your own negative thoughts getting you down.
Well, no more Miss Nice Witch. It’s time to tell that bitch to get moving, Ludacris style!
You’ll need:
A black or white candle
A needle
A piece of paper and something to write with
A fireproof bowl or container
Take your needle and carve your obstacle into the wax of the candle, starting at the wick and writing down. If it’s another person, carve the offending action rather than just their name. Carving “John’s refusal to give me the raise I deserve” may help your boss reconsider his stubbornness. Carving “John Smith” might just remove him from your life without helping the actual problem (unless that is the problem, of course).
If you like, you can play the instrumental of Ludacris’ song Move Bitch (Get Out the Way) in the background, which you can find HERE. It certainly builds up that aggressive energy you need to infuse into this spell.
On a small piece of paper, write “Move bitch, get out the way. Get out the way. Get out the way.“
Light the candle, then CAREFULLY burn the paper with the candle flame, dropping it into your bowl before you burn your fingers. Burning the paper releases that energy and gives your obstacle the extra push in the right direction.
Let the candle burn out completely and imagine your obstacle melting right along with it.
Repeat the spell if necessary until your path is clear!
When I was a witch I thought “doing spells” was the height of all magic. After I left witchcraft I found myself doing spells less and less until I just… stopped. But this didn’t mean my life was without magic. The form my active magic took just changed.
I do magic with talismans now. Others may call them “altars in a box.” I call them talismans ^-^
Once a talisman is built, it works forever as long as it is properly charged. In the photograph is the charging of my personal prosperity talisman.
Talismans are a low-spoon magical solution. The creation, use, and upkeep of a talisman requires no personal energy beyond putting a few objects in a container. You do not need to charge talismans with your personal energy.
A talisman is, in my definition, a magical trinket which can manipulate energies in your favor. In this article I am talking about container talismans.
Container talismans are built like puzzles. Each object added holds a special meaning and will affect the energies of the talisman in a special way. In my example money talisman, I have added:
Lodestone, to draw money, prosperity, and wealth.
Lodestone oil, to draw money, prosperity, and wealth.
Coins, to represent what I desire.
Gold pebbles, to represent what I desire.
A jar of iolite crystals with a $1000 store price tag, to represent great wealth (dressed with lodestone oil).
A bottle of pure gold flakes, to represent great wealth.
A charm bag of basil, to get the spirit ally Basil to work on my behalf for profit.
A sigil to save money, for obvious reasons!
A small jar of marijuana, a gesture of sacrifice to give back to the spirit world, and to represent what I desire.
My last dollar until payday, a gesture of sacrifice to give back to the spirit world, and to represent what I desire.
This talisman brings me a lot of spending money and I am rarely ever out (except now, which is why I am recharging and donating my last dollar!).
On the other hand, talismans are a practical low-fund solution because one can literally be made out of paper slips stuffed in to a jar. No need to get fancy!
Try building different container talismans for prosperity, relationships, wishes, and protection.
Try adding dried herbs and stones of traditional correspondences.
Add representation of spirit allies who will help.
Include poems, images, sigils, or references of your goals and dreams.
Talismans can be simple or complex. Make them to your tastes and the preferences of the spirits you work with.
To build your own talisman, select an appropriate container and cleanse it using your favorite method. Cleanse objects and state their purpose as you add them to the container. “This dried rose represents eternal love within my heart.” “This quartz chip is to empower the other elements of the talisman.” And so on 🙂
When your talisman is assembled, charge it by placing candles on or near it and lighting them with intent to draw down power. Or, place it in the Sun and Moonlight for 24 hours, asking Nature to rise from below and complete the trinity of empowerment. In the picture, I placed a candle in the middle of the talisman jar. I dressed the candle with lodestone oil for extra power.
Place talismans on an altar or safe space where it will not be disturbed. Allow it to work for you; I see results within an hour typically but I have many allies so don’t be bothered if things don’t work for you so quickly! Give up to 4 weeks to see real changes; up to 2 weeks to see signs of change. Speak to it regularly. Give things time to manifest. Charge regularly or as needed (I charge mine once every… 2 years on average).
Moving forward with our intentions requires clarity. Clarity is a combination of focus and understanding. When we know what we want and why we want it, it becomes easier to devise a plan and to move forward with intention. Here is a simple spell that can be performed anytime to aid clarity.
You Will Need
A bowl of water
A pinch of rosemary
A white candle in a safe holder
Preparation If it is part of your practice, cast a circle. As you sit with your ingredients before you, centre yourself. Ground yourself in the present moment by focusing on your breath, the sensations of your body, and your connection to the earth.
Casting Place the bowl of water before you and sprinkle the rosemary across the surface. Light the candle and place it behind the bowl so its light reflects in the water.
Gaze into the water and watch the candle flicker along its surface. Empty your mind of thoughts. You may acknowledge a thought as it comes to you, but do not dwell on it. Instead, allow it to pass on, clearing your mind.
Recite the following with intention:
Flickering candle On water tranquil End obscurity Grant me clarity
When finished, extinguish the candle and pour the water and rosemary in your garden or outside.
Notes Rosemary: associated with the sun and fire; it enhances mental prowess White candle: divination and healing
You will need: Anise or Lavender incense stick and 3 candles. Go to the room you want to keep as a safe place. Put the candles infront of you (its better to sit down in the ground and have them near you). Light up the candles from left to right. Then light up the incense stick. Close your eyes and think about all the things that make you calm and feel free. When you are relaxed and in complete silence start chanting words that will bond the emotion you want to give to the place with the physical room. The words can be anything you want that echo what you feel but you can also use the ones we wrote :
This place is safe from all harm Peace of mind will stay around and welcome any friendly smile
My magic soul will stay intact
Once you finish the chant, stay in silence until you feel you are ready and open your eyes. Blow off the candles and let the incense stick in a place where it can fill the room with scent until it finishes.
ingredients:
🌷 rose buds/petals
🌿 catnip
🍊 orange peel
🌹 rose quartz
🌹 pink tourmaline
🌹 Herkimer diamond
🐚 sea shell (or any container!)
Add anything else vibing with you. Everything included resonates with beauty, love, and confidence. The Herkimer diamond will enhance all of those powers.
💄 in addition, I did my makeup to match the colors used in my spell.
🐚 keep on your person throughout the day and inhale its scent whenever you need a boost.
A soothing sachet to tuck under your pillow or hang over your bed. Get a good night’s sleep and wake up refreshed!
INGREDIENTS
Pick and choose some of the following herbs. I typically use a mixture of about 4, or whichever I happen to have on hand at the time. I try to avoid too many at once because that results in an overwhelming scent.
Anise – Known to repel nightmares.
Calendula – Brings about a good night’s sleep.
Cedar – Calms the mind and wards off bad dreams.
Chamomile – One of the most powerful sleep herbs on the list.
Jasmine – Gives good dreams, but can cause erotic dreams in women.
Lavender – The ultimate in stress relief herbs.
Lemon Balm – Stress relieving sleep aid.
Mugwort – Helps ward off bad dreams.
Mullein – Can be used to protect against bad dreams or psychic attack.
Rose petals – Brings about dreams of love. Can also cause erotic dreams if used too heavily.
Next, gather the following stones.
Clear Quartz — Who doesn’t love clear quartz? It’s like an energy booster for your other stones.
Amethyst — This gem helps guard against nightmares, but also helps soothe an overactive mind and wipes away the stress of the day (or week).
Rose Quartz — Bring in some of rose quartz’ love and peace. This brings deep, restorative sleep and over time can build self-love and overall happiness.
Lepidolite — Probably my most recommended stone. Lepidolite is like kryptonite to even the most super-est of stresses and depressions. It can stop obsessive thoughts, bring mood swings into line, and will upend dependency and mental anguish that might be keeping you up at night.
DIRECTIONS
Take the stones (little chips are just as good as big chunks) and place them in a bowl. Add any essential oils (many of the floral herbs are more fragrant in their oil form) and use your hands to roll the stones around until coated. While doing so, focus your intent as soft pink or yellow (or whatever color is soothing to you) light radiating from your hands.
Next, add the remaining herbs. Continue to hand mix the ingredients while focusing your intent. Once thoroughly mixed, hold your hands over the bowl and really expand that “light” into a ball of positive, soothing energy.
If you’d like, say a quick invocation or spell. Something like:
When I lay me down to sleep
I ask of you my dreams to keep.
No more tossing, no more turning.
No more stress and questions burning.
Only rest and gentle sleep,
Until the morning’s dawn shall peep.
You can change the words to fit your needs, or skip it altogether. It doesn’t have to rhyme – that’s just a simple device some people use. Hell, it doesn’t even need to make sense, as long as it is you channelling your will into the mixture.
DO. NOT. RUSH. THIS. PART. Breathe. Let your will do its work.
Once you’ve imbued the mixture with your will, transfer it to a muslin bag or pouch. Hang near your bed or tuck under your pillow.
…
As a side-note, always feel free to experiment with this and any of my other recipes. This is what works for me. Maybe you find catnip or vervain soothing. Add it! Maybe tourmaline is your power crystal. Add it! And if you experiment with the recipe and find something that seems to work really well, let me know!
