🎈Quiet Ways To Interact With Spirit Companions🎈

sigil-seer:

I see lots of posts on how to communicate and interact with spirit companions, and they’re great, but many involve lengthy conversation (or one-sided dialogue) between the human and their companion. Even if the dialogue is all through thought, some people prefer to be quiet inside and out, so here’s some tips for you quiet friends!

🎈Draw something that your spirit companion will like, or that has meaning to you both.

🎈Lie down and just relax with your companion. No words necessary, just feel each other’s presence.

🎈If your companion has a vessel, hold it or touch it and meditate.

🎈Communicate through feeling, instead of talking. Let your companion feel what you feel, and allow yourself to feel what they feel.

🎈Make two cups of tea or coffee and drink with your companion.

🎈Read a book, watch a movie, or play a game, and let your companion watch/read along.

🎈Go on a walk in nature with your companion.

🎈Play Solitaire or other one-person games, and let your companion help/play through you.

Low Spoon Spirit Work/Companion Tips

autumnhellfire:

12 Spirit Work Tips for people with low spoons, or just anyone who doesn’t have as much energy at the moment.

Tip #1 –Look at the stars with them

I really love to look at the stars with my companions. It is amazing after a hectic or stressful day to just sit outside and think about nothing with my spirit family.

Tip #2 –Watch Tv

Seriously just sit down, and decide on a show together. Ro is a huge fan of Peaky Blinders on Netflix, so I always try to watch at least an episode of it when I can with him.

Tip #3 –Find a YouTuber they enjoy

Ro is a big fan of beauty gurus and Archie likes to watch horse videos with me. Hyl seems to like when I binge watch music videos. There is something for every companion on youtube.

Tip #4 –Hum to music together

I love to sing but sometimes I don’t have enough energy to. I usually just hum while laying down if I can’t sing right then.

Tip #5 –Write a story with your spirit companion as a character.

I’m currently working on a story with both Archie and Ro in it and Hyl is gonna make an appearance in one of my other story’s. For me writing is super relaxing and low energy.

Tip #6 – Draw a Doodle of them

I doodle anyways so just channeling a little energy into what my companions might look as a doodle isn’t a huge thing. (This is a bit more high energy and is only for when I feel a little better than normal.)

Tip #7 –Cuddle them

My all time freaking favorite. This is the lowest of all the energy things. Its also pretty self explanatory.

Tip #8 – READ BOOKS!!!

Can you tell I like reading with my companions? Hyl and I bond over reading literally every day.

Tip #9 –Write a letter

Pour out your feelings, hopes and dreams in this letter and then show it to them. Also one can try channeling with their companion to receive a letter from the companion.

Tip #10 –Write a poem

If you are an artistic person or like writing poems this one is for you people that are blessed with an awesome vocabulary. Also you could write one line of the poem and they can write the next line.

Tip #11 –Play Hot&Cold

Try to feel their energy and use how your body responds as a way to detect them when they are nearby. It is super easy to turn this into a fun and entertaining game.

Tip #12 –Twenty Questions

Use a twenty questions app to learn things about them that you might not ask them yourself.

Sorry if this post seemed a little lackluster. I really had to push myself to finish it… Low spoon problems. Anyways I hope someone finds this helpful. Thanks for reading.

Branches of Spirit work

the-house-of-moon:

Spirit work is a broaaad term and there’s been many disputes about it so I decided to organize a list. If there’s a specific branch of spirit work that isn’t on the list, please do message me and some info on it! or correct me if I got some parts wrong!

RELIGIOUS: Working with an entity or figure associated with a specific religion. This can include the worship of a deity depending on the person.
Some examples include the Abrahamic God, Joan of Arc, Greek Gods, etc.

SPIRIT COMPANIONSHIP: Working with spirits bought from a companion store, usually binded to a vessel. Great for beginners because the vessels make it easier for the human companion to connect to their energy.
This is NOT slavery nor is the spirit forced into it. It’s all consent.

ANIMAL: Works with animals, living or dead. This could be for reconnecting to a once living being, deep appreciation for all animals and/or animal deities. Some examples are dogs, cats, birds, wolves, etc.

POP CULTURE: Works with living entities from a fictional realm coming from a book, movie, anime, etc. They are conversed as energy being put into the idea of them, creating their own realm and able to access.

ARS GOETIA DEMONS: Where the whole, demon summoning archetype came from. Works one or more of the 72 demons from the grimoire, Lesser Key of Solomon. Some may or may not consider this “Hell”.

ANGELS: Works or worships angelic spirits. They are often described with large feathery wings or halos. Often works underneath God(or similarly) but does not have to be Abrahamic or religiously tied. Examples are Shinigami(death angels), Fallen.

FAE: Works or communicates with faes (also fay, fae; from faery, faerie, “realm of the fays”). Fae is a type of mythical being or legendary creature in European folklore, a form of spirit, often described as metaphysical, supernatural or preternatural. Usually known as an umbrella term that covers many species.

DRAGONS: Works with dragons. Period. Usually known as a legendary creature,

typically scaled or fire-spewing; with serpentine, reptilian and avian traits, that features in the myths of many cultures. European and Chinese dragons are the most commonly known.

ELF: Works with an elf or a community of elves. Elves are mythical creature of various origins that is usually regarded as a good being that helps to make trees and nature good. Described to a taller human with long, pointy ears. Also considered very beautiful creatures.

ANCESTRAL: Works with spirits/those who have passed within their bloodline. Some may even work outside their bloodline with respect and permission from the ghost/human spirit.

CULTURAL: Works with spirits within their own culture or tied to their religion. Example of cultural spirits are yokai, Japanese demons.

HELL: Works with demons or spirits with relations to Hell. May or may not have relations to Goetia demons, depending on the individual spirit. Spirits may include hellhounds, lowborn demons, hellcats, etc.

DEATH: Works with the dead aka ghosts, those who have passed recently or awhile ago, helps the dead move on/guide them to dead. Also called a psychopomp.

MEDIUMSHIP: While they do work with ghosts, they have more purposes than helping the dead move on. Some functions include relying a message to the living, helping reconnect loose ends, etc.
Thank you to @pathlesspagan!

Tarot and Spirits

ekonsine:

Doing a tarot reading through channelling a spirit’s intent:

  1. Spread out your deck, in 2-3 rows, preferably on a bed or floor, or some surface you can sit on as well
  2. Get yourself into a meditative and amenable state for spirit communication, make sure your muscles are relaxed/tension gone
  3. Hold the vessel or signifying item of the spirit close to your most active chakra, sense and focus on their energy, let them know you wish them to channel a reading through you
  4. If you have a specific question or a topic for the spirit, let them know the first one and give them a moment to contemplate
  5. Hold the spirit’s vessel in your palm, using the grip of your thumb to keep it lightly perched there
  6. Hold your arm out straight, palm face down, hovering in the center of the center row of cards. About 15-20cm’s above the cards should do.
  7. Relax. Breath. Ground yourself. Let all tension go. Close your eyes.
  8. Let your arm move in the direction it wants to go, be patient
  9. When your hand starts to hover above a certain card, the vessel may or may not vibrate in your hand. When it wants to fall, let it drop naturally. This will be the spirit’s chosen card
  10. If the vessel doesn’t drop, but your hand has stopped moving, that can happen too, let your fingers fall naturally to the card instead
  11. Once a card has been chosen, you can open your eyes, and either look at the card, or continue from the start again with your next question

Some things to keep in mind:

  • Be as specific as possible with your questions when doing a reading with a spirit, to avoid it being interpreted incorrectly or to avoid an answer that is vague or unclear.
  • Don’t ask things like, “what are you feeling?” As the answer to this sort of question can come back to mean a huge variety of things that might not even relate to what the spirit is personally feeling, and might just be what they are witnessing or experiencing from you or their surroundings
  • Make sure to give the spirit time to mull over the question and to actually choose a card to answer it, otherwise risk getting an incomplete or completely invalid reading
  • Keep in mind that when doing a reading with a spirit, often it is a fraction of their thought that is channelled into the card, it may or may not be a direct answer to your question, and is often merely an observation in regards to something related, so make sure to listen to your gut instinct and intuition
  • Stay away from traditional card meanings as much as possible, and try to intuitively read each card the spirit pulls. They may choose a card for it’s appearance, or some small bit of symbolism that they feel best relates to the message they want to relay to you, which may or may not be visibly relevant to the question you have asked. This is by far the most challenging part, and why I always back up tarot readings with pendulum and astral work
  • Don’t get hung up on the “negative” cards, generally in my work with spirits I find they tend to pull cards of observation and guidance pertaining to you, and less about them personally, and especially if they are a spirit companion, they are very in tune with your emotions and energy and will wish to assist and support you best they can
  • Another thing to note is how highly aware spirits are, above our awareness, they are not privy to the sort of emotional ups and downs that humans are, for the most part. That’s not to say they don’t experience emotions, or strong emotions, just that they are generally more stable and clear headed about things
  • Also it is a good idea to back up the results with another form of spirit communication, to make sure the reading was as valid and true as possible. Sometimes the readings don’t come through true at all, or are weak, or the spirit is new or not fully there to channel the reading
  • Another word of advice is to do the readings yourself this way if this is a spirit you personally work with, another diviner might not be able to channel their energy as accurately, or even be so welcome to do so

Spirit Communication Tips

ekonsine:

Since I just opened my spirit companion shop recently, I wanted to share some tips for you guys! These tips will generally help in connecting with unbound spirits, but can be useful in spirit communication with companions as well!

Things to keep in mind before doing any sort of spirit work:

  1. Believe in yourself, belief holds power
  2. Let go of doubt, stop worrying about accuracy
  3. Your intent holds incredible power, be aware of it
  4. Feel and sense first, analyse last
  5. Release all expectations of what will happen
  6. Release all tension and preconceived notions
  7. Balance your energy, empty your mind
  8. Research personality ties of colours/elements/etc
  9. Don’t rely on divination, especially not at first

As for the communication with a spirit:

  1. Find your intent for spirit communication. Attempt to picture it in your mind, try to perceive it the best way you can. It does not need to be anything specific, but what you think is what you invite, more or less. Understand well what you want to draw to you, and make sure you don’t let your mind wander while you are doing this. If you wish to communicate with a companion, picture them, their energy, and what you want out of the communication with them.
  2. You can also create a visual space in your mind to have your conversation in. This is more along the lines of astral travel, but you will receive the same sort of impressions, it just might appear more fluid. Typically this takes a lot more focus though and you’ll miss out on impressions outside of visual impressions. I don’t suggest this for communicating with a spirit that you are unfamiliar with.
  3. Associate your intent with something physical. If you want to communicate with a spirit that is emotionally forward, you will probably want a spirit of the water element. Having a cup or bowl of water will assist in drawing a spirit of that nature to you by giving them another medium. Be as creative as you wish with this, whatever physically expresses your desire for spirit communication will do. In the case of a spirit companion, this will suffice as an offering or a gift to them!
  4. Contact can come through in small pieces, or large chucks of information, and is often garbled and hard to process. Let the information come to you but don’t process it as it does. Also be patient! When just starting out you might only get the impression of a colour, or a feeling! Do not be discouraged.
  5. Spirit communication can happen by request, but it can also happen quite randomly. Always be aware that a spirit can communicate with you at any time, if for whatever reason they are drawn to the activity you are doing, or your energy.
  6. Some contact may seem insignificant, but don’t dismiss any impressions, even if they are simply of a certain colour or smell, they most always have a deeper meaning
  7. Contact may be visual, audible, or sensory, don’t dismiss the medium of communication either. It can be a combination of all of the above, or even just one of the above.
  8. Contact might not be triggered when you expect it to! Even a change in the weather, or a song on the radio can pave the path to having an impression or contact from a spirit. If you’re not seeing results, spice things up a bit, try a slightly different approach!
  9. Go with your first thought of belief, don’t second guess or question anything, not yet anyway. Feel and sense first.
  10. Pay attention to patterns and coincidence! Having a good understanding of mathematical probability will help you distinguish when a spirit is influencing your environment and when they are not. This is particularly useful during divination! I always know a spirit isn’t communicating with me, or is not at a good energy level to communicate because the results are random and don’t follow a pattern that makes sense. So I think it is important to keep an eye out for patterns and coincidence in your life, even though it is not directly obvious as communication, it is.
  11. Write it all down, don’t think about it just write down everything that comes to mind, scribble all the impressions that come to you no matter how much sense they make at the time. They’re all puzzle pieces to a puzzle that you’ll process later, might be months later. Do not dismiss anything as not spirit contact if that is the first thing that comes to mind. You do not need to confirm it, just write it down! If it becomes a pattern that is your confirmation.
  12. Hold off on divination until you have experienced impressions from a spirit, and have some understanding of their energy and a pattern of their behaviour. When starting to confirm your spirit communication with divination, ask questions you already know the answer to! It will take time to channel the spirit through a reading, so don’t ask hard questions until you see a pattern of accurate results. I wish it was as simple as just doing a reading with a spirit you don’t know, but it takes familiarity for an extremely accurate reading.
  13. Practice all of this often, even if you don’t get results, results and better accuracy come with time. It takes a considerable amount of energy to receive information from a spirit, which only comes with practice and becoming accustomed to doing so.

I hope this assists at least some of you in your spirit work and with your companions! Don’t forget that my ask box is always open, no matter how silly your question might seem!

Ring Ring, Is That Your Phone Or Mine?

serapphire:

It’s the thing that gets you into a shop, and the thing that gets you to the checkout. Callings are what spirit keepers and human companions use to tell who wishes to come into their family fold. They are an important aspect of Spirit Keeping/Companionship, and so it’s essential that you know what a Calling is, what it feels like, and how to respond when your metaphorical phone starts ringing.

What Is A Calling?

If you have access to an individual or group’s advertisements of spirit vessels for sale or for rehoming, you are eventually going to receive a Calling.

Callings are what spirits/entities send out to those who they find to be of interest. It’s the nudge you get in some way to tell you that a spirit desires to be a part of your household.

A single spirit may send out multiple Callings to different people, until someone picks up the phone. This is the reason why if you’re too slow, you may find that the spirit’s vessel is sold the day you decide to seal the deal. A majority of the time, spirits and entities are open to the idea of many different individuals, rather than going for a very specific person.

What Does A Calling Feel Like?

So Callings sound amazing and perfect for those of us who are overwhelmed by the choices shops give us. You’re thinking, “how can I get in on this?”, I bet. However, there is no “getting into” Callings. Sure, you could send your energy out through a Reverse Adoption to do your own sort of Calling to Spirits, but nothing is going to happen unless the Spirit picked up their damn phone, right?

It’s essential as Spirit Keepers/Companions that we are able to identify if our own callings have been heard, or if one is being sent to us.

Callings vary depending on the person and the Spirit that is attempting to make contact, but it is agreed that these are just a few of ‘symptoms’ of having your phone stuck on vibrate:

– Sleeplessness (You just can’t stop thinking about this spirit!)
– Dreams about the Spirit (Even better if it’s a Lucid Dream!)
– Anxiety (You worry about going to the shop one day and the vessel being sold!)

When you feel one or more of these things, you may be experiencing a Calling. Other symptoms are based off of how the Spirit/Entity normally manifests. Are you finding that manifestations are taking place around you, that are not coming from your own Spirit Family or Unbounds? Double check the listing, and see if the manifestations match up with the Spirit/Entity in question.

*Bonus: Still can’t tell if a spirit/entity is calling to you? Most shops have a Reverse Adoption service, where they use your information to find who is interested in you from their fold.

Callings vs. Interest/Desire

Sometimes, what you’re feeling isn’t a Calling, and that’s completely fine. As humans, it’s easy to mistaken who is calling to us, or if our unconscious interest/desire in a species is making us perceive it to be a Calling. For instance, if you have an interest in kitsune, you’re going to believe that you are going to be called to more kitsune than fairies, when the reality may not be that.

Always make sure it is a Calling before committing to a purchase. Use your preferred divination method to ask the spirit/entity, or reach out to the Seller/Conjurer for confirmation through Reverse Adoption services. When taking in a spirit/entity that wasn’t Calling to you, it’s a common problem that rules will not be followed, arguments may happen between that spirit/entity and yourself/family, etc. It will be a definite sign of chemistry just not being there.

What To Do

If you took home a spirit/entity that you realize isn’t a good fit for your personality, lifestyle or family, talk to your Conjurer. Some may take the spirit/entity back, while others will give you the necessary information needed to rehome the spirit/entity to a proper Keeper/Human Companion.

If you have confirmed that a spirit/entity is Calling to you, and you have the financial/family means of taking them home… Go for it!

Spirit Houses

da-at-ass:

lokean-witch:

I haven’t seen any posts about it, so here goes.

We as people tend to dramatise spirits. (Especially Americans let’s not even lie, there’s a huge culture around occultism and ouija and all that shit that’s been blown out of proportions.)

“They’re all evil! They must be gone, exorcised, banished!”

“DON’T PLAY OUIJA YOU’LL GET POSSESSED BY AN EVIL DEMON CREATURE.”

The truth is, a lot spirits don’t even know or care that you’re there, they have a right to be there and were probably there before you. Possessions are really, really rare. Legit ones that is.

However, minor hauntings, such as things being knocked over, spirits nicking things and putting them elsewhere, banging on walls and such aren’t really a threat, and more of an annoyance. So there’s no need to call the exorcist and put fear and negative energy into it (because the spirit feeds off your fear and only grows stronger.)

Trust me, if the haunting was really serious, it would be much more than banging or losing things.

So! How to deal with a minor haunting without getting your exorcist mallet out? The answer is simple: Build a spirit house.

Offer the noisy or cheeky spirit a home. A space of their own that they keeps them occupied and content.

There are tons of methods to build spirit houses, may it be in skulls/bones from other animals, large jars, little doll houses, an intricate structure of thread stretched over a frame, a woven cage of wicker, anything! It depends on what you can provide and also what the spirit may want/need.

The interior decor varies just as much. From a little zen garden to a shiny little room fill with mirrors, and pretty things, it depends again on what you feel is necessary. The idea is to provide the spirit with something that’ll keep it occupied through it’s beauty, intricacy or shiny qualities. Keep them amused. So make an intricate little doll house, or a miniature garden, or a mirror room, it’s up to you!

Once that’s said and done, invite the spirit into it’s home and welcome them there. From there, the annoyance should stop and the spirit may even become willing to aid you in your magical workings!

Next time, consider that before being scared out of your wit and feeding bad energy into it. Sometimes, call it takes is a little compromise!

Oh, and PRETTY PLEASE send me pictures of your spirit homes! I’d love to see them.

I take this to a further level and feel my house is not occupied by enough spirits so I buy haunted objects from thrift stores and set aside spaces for spirit occupation. One of those “garden pagoda” statues is in my garden for land-based spirits to take refuge in/have as territory and it’s made the corner garden much more pleasant and secured against people on the sidewalk who walk by. (In fact it’s an imitation of the japanese version of a spirit house, but the garden decor section at Fred Meyer doesn’t advertise that.)

A haunted home is a secure home! Spirits help keep watch for you and make the place less lonely. Give them a board game and they’ll stop knocking on the ceiling for fun.
