blossomingbesom:

I’ve had an INCREDIBLY stressful weekend, so this morning, I decided to make a spread that wasn’t so much about what you should do or what you NEED to do or even what you should worry about… but what you shouldn’t worry about.  Where you can relax.

  1. relax about this – here’s a reminder of something you don’t need to worry about.  If it’s something that looks negative, it’s a problem you don’t have, no matter what your anxieties might say.
  2. let go of this – here’s something you’ve been holding onto and honestly? you can let it go; for negative cards, this is a pain you’ve held onto that is no longer serving you
  3. settle into this – here’s something you’ve been hesitant to accept as true? you can accept it; for negative cards, this is a reality it’s not the time to fight
  4. feel good about this –  sometimes, we’re hesitant to appreciate something for fear that it might go away or that it isn’t real: go ahead and feel good about it; if this is a negative card, consider this a problem you don’t have or something you’ve conquered
  5. see the good in this – peace isn’t when everything is perfect: see the good in this position and, if it’s a negative card, try and see the good to be found there and focus on that
  6. have faith in this – sometimes, when we’re stressed, it can feel like nothing is dependable, like nothing will go right, like we can’t believe or hope for anything: here, have faith a little, be positive; if it’s a negative card, have faith that you’ll find your way through it

When you’re a couple that’s used to spending all your time together and suddenly that togetherness is disrupted by a situation that physically separates you, it can be tough to make that transition and get through it.

People have different needs, and different ways of coping. It can be a huge advantage to understand what your partner needs when things get tough, and naturally, people will change and grow as they spend time apart and it can be strange to reunite and find that you have to get to know this person you once knew so intimately again. To help ease some of that, here’s a very simple spread for couples in long distance relationships.

1. What you need

2. What your partner needs

3. How to stay connected over the distance.

Good luck to all the couples dealing with distance! Stay strong!

Tarot 101: Bonding With Your Deck

themori-witch:

You’ve probably heard or seen talk of bonding with your tarot deck, and it might seem like an outlandish and strange practise (let’s be frank, and say that most of what we do is seen as outlandish and strange), but many witches and diviners swear by it, citing better readings and growth as a diviner upon bonding with their decks.

WHAT DOES “BONDING WITH YOUR DECK” MEAN?

Bonding with your deck is exactly what it describes: it means that you – the owner of the tarot deck – form a spiritual bond with your cards. That’s the bones of it!

WHY DO SOME CONSIDER IT IMPORTANT?

Some tarot readers believe that forming a bond with your deck means that your deck will be more compliant with you when you’re doing readings, resulting in clearer answers and more accurate readings overall.

It is believed by some, that decks have their own personalities and will choose whether or not to work with you and thus, bond with you. If you believe this to be the case, forming a bond with a deck that is initially vague and/or even hostile can change the dynamic over time and render the deck more co-operative, which may aid your ability as a reader.
Trying to get a clear answer from cards that, in layman’s terms, don’t like you is like trying to get information from an enemy – difficult, frustrating, and draining.

Think of the bond you share with your deck like a friendship: both sides want to be happy and benefit in some way from the bond you share.

DO I HAVE TO BOND WITH MY DECK?

You don’t have to, no. It’s all down to personal preference and how you feel you work best as a diviner. Use your intuition and your beliefs to determine whether or not you’d benefit from bonding with the tools you use for divination.

As stated above, some practitioners feel that if they don’t form a strong and positive bond with their tarot decks, the deck will begin to give off negative energies that can be passed on to you by handling the cards. Some believe that you cannot truly and accurately interpret the cards you draw without this bond.
Using the same analogy as before, think about friendships: friends are often more willing to give you detailed information than strangers.

WAYS TO BOND WITH YOUR DECK:

  1. Sleep with it under your pillow.
  2. Spend time shuffling them and drawing them to familiarise yourself with the energy of the deck as a whole, as well as individual cards.
  3. Do daily one-card draws.
  4. Shuffle them absent-mindedly.
  5. Carry your deck on your person throughout the day, if you can do so.
  6. Meditate with the deck in front of you or whilst holding it.
  7. BONUS: You can do spreads like [X] and [X] to get to know your deck too!

Buy Me A Coffee!

Here’s a thing I didn’t know when I started reading Tarot that I wish I did: the Rider-Waite-Smith deck is public domain, meaning if you’re buying a deck what you’re paying for is not the images but the materials they’re printed on. So unless it’s a fancy edition or an older/antique version, don’t pay a bunch for it! I bought my original Rider Waite for probably like $18 ten years ago and that’s WAY more than it’s worth considering it’s just generic plastic-coated cardstock and started peeling almost immediately.

It also means you are free to print out copies for yourself without worrying about breaking any copyright laws. Here’s a PDF version for the deck in color, 9 cards to a page in its current arrangement, so smaller than standard but not by much. Here’s a version that’s just the line art in case you don’t have access to color printing or want to color them in yourself.

My suggestion? Go get construction paper, or if you have a little extra money, go to Michael’s and get cardstock paper in a nice pattern or color. Then get either a regular glue stick or if you can afford the extra couple bucks, buy the Elmer’s Craft Bond Extra Strength Glue Stick (it’s like $3ish at Michael’s and is designed to not oversaturate paper and make it ripple). Then print, adhere the printer paper to the construct paper/cardstock, let dry and cut out. They may be a little difficult to ruffle shuffle but beyond that it will function the same as any other deck AND if you spill coffee on your spread it’s not the end of the world, just reprint the cards you stained.

ive seen a few different posts talking about wanting to get into tarot but deck prices being somewhat prohibitive so wanted to bring this back since it has the links to the PDFs and such in it. Tarot ought to be accessible, print your own deck and get started!

The Bird Tarot – Complete Major Arcana

FAQs

Will you print the Bird Tarot?

Hopefully. I plan to kickstart it, but only once I’ve completed all the art, I don’t want the pressure of completing art as well as product production and fundraising.

How do I get updates on the Bird Tarot?

Stick around, give this Tumblr a follow. There’s 4 suits to come, that’s a lot of art to enjoy.

What do all the bird choices mean?

I’ll probably write an ebook to go with the tarot deck, but like with any Tarot, they mean what you feel they mean.

Why haven’t you done X bird? I think it would be a better fit for Y Card.

I chose these birds because they’re all British, or migrate through Britain. A lot of them have personal connections to me in some way, and some just fit the cards. It’s my deck I chose what I felt fit right.

When do you think you’ll have the art done by?!!

I can’t say. I don’t get paid for any of these illustrations so I still have paid artwork to do in the meantime. I will release each suit in a group when they’re complete until I’m done.

If you want to support the Bird Tarot you can donate to my Ko-Fi or buy a Digital Print and that will give me more freedon to do more directly unpaid work like the Bird Tarot.
