Whoo! Another spell that allows me to use my phone! If you’ve been keeping up with the spells I’ve been posting as of late, I’ve recently found myself in a situation in which I have to adjust my practice to my new living situation. It’s hard for me to afford herbs, I can’t burn candles in my apartment, and I’m living in the middle of the city and am awful at taking care of plants.
SO I’ve been trying to find ways in which to incorporate something I always have with me (my phone) into my practice.
As a result I’ve come up with this all-purpose “wish spell.” Want some luck with money? BAM. Want to curse someone? Here ya go! Just want your coffee to stay warmer for just a little longer? Use this!
The steps are easy!
1. Create a new message on your phone and address it to yourself/your own number (or your e-mail if you’re worried about people going through your phone!)
2. Type out what it is you want. Use present-tense. “My hair is amazing today.” or whatever it is you want. Focus on your desire as you type and if you choose, add emojis that you feel pertain to your wish.
3. Send the message and hit Home – if you’re on the iPhone. If you have another phone then get an iPhone because really. Kidding (sort of). Regardless, just go back to your home screen.
4. Do NOT open the message (or e-mail) when you receive it! Leave it marked unread in your inbox! The reason for this is that now every time you see the unread message notification above your messages, you’re going to be reminded of the spell and that gives it more fuel.
5. When the wish comes true, you can finally view and delete the message.
I’m still just blown away that some people like legit think that techno magic isn’t ~real~ magic because they decided that it can’t transmit energy??
Like why are people like this.
See, one of the giant reasons I consider techno magic to be so incredibly in-tune with what magic is is because the transmission methods are actually so similar!
Both have a form of energy, whether it be electricity or the life/universal energy that you typically imagine when magic is involved. Both go from point A to point B. Both can drastically affect the subjects of your magic – think the similarities between casting a positivity for a friend, and sending them a nice and uplifting message. Now think of sending your friend a nice and uplifting message with a positivity spell woven in – that’s like a big twofold effect and it’s efficient.
Not to mention people develop their own rituals in technology too, such as using a specific emoji with a certain person. These start to form into their own little spells – my girlfriend and I use our zodiac signs as nicknames so whenever we want to symbolize something like appreciation or a ‘kiss’ we put the other’s zodiac symbol after the respective emoji, which works along the same lines as a tagged love/happiness charm
There’s the whole idea of life/universal energy acting in a cycle and essentially connecting everything in a big web – well, technology does that too! Anyone who has a computer or a phone can tap into it, and that just adds another branch. It’s as huge and as vast and as incomprehensible as the life/universal energy model is, just a slightly different method of execution
In basic terms techno magic works the exact same way as what people like to think of as ‘traditional’ magic does, just over a different medium and honestly I think the implications and possibilities that open are wonderful
I’ll fight people who say tech magic isn’t real I’ll fight them -Ace
There would be things that might look oddly familiar. Fear not, these are mostly references to author’s favorite fictional universes.
Basic principles
Technomancy is another way of using magical energy. Unlike Alchemy, Technomancy’s main purpose is to operate mechanisms, machines and computers via a stream of said energy, establishing a connection between the Technomancer’s mind and a machine. Given that he/she understands how the machine works, it can be used from a distance, and without directly manipulating it.
Early Technomancy and the Cult of Machine Spirit
Because of the cult of Mata Nui’s declined popularity, for over fifty thousand years a Cult of Machine Spirit became prominent among the Technomancers. Technomancy itself originated in the southern districts of Metru Nui, the first Technomancers being Ko-Matoran and Toa of Ice. Because of their highly religious and conservative ways, the Ko-Matoran believed that Technomancy was a gift from the Great Spirit. They spread the belief that the Great Spirit is in everything, even in machines. To this end, Technomancers have invented a wide variety of rituals and accessories – mostly seals and engravings – to improve their spiritual link with Mata Nui.
Perhaps surprisingly, their efforts were successful, and confirmed the Technomancers’ belief that the Machine Spirit watches over and understands them. In fact, all the seals, runes and similar objects are imbued with a strong energy imprint of the Technomancer that created them. This creates a strong bond between the machine and its master, which is why the effectiveness of Technomancy increases dramatically through the use of seals.
Such “intuitive” Technomancy became the foundation for further development not only of the Machine Spirit cult, but of all other Technomantic abilities too. Thanks to the Technomancers, it is possible to create and implant a wide variety of augmentations such as artificial limbs and technical interfaces.
