This is for all the witches who don’t feel like they are doing enough. You don’t need to enchant things, cast spells all the time, or write sigils everywhere to be doing witchy stuff! You are witching all over the place! You got witch everywhere!
Jewelry: this is the easiest witchy thing to do, in my opinion, because it’s so low energy. You can wear different crystals and minerals, seashells, pentacles, crosses, or other symbols pertaining to your beliefs. Pendants, bracelets, or rings are usually the most popular way. Whether you enchant them or not is up to you. I’ll set my bracelets and mala beads in full moonlight but I haven’t gotten around to enchanting anything yet. I do wear certain gems to correspond to my needs. If you study palmistry, you’ll know that wearing certain rings on certain fingers work with different energies. There is so much to this category.
Stirring anything: your food when cooking, the cereal in your bowl, your coffee/tea, the straw in your cocktail, the direction of your stirring is either conjuring up happiness and health (clockwise), or you’re banishing negativity (counterclockwise). Focus on your stirring and set some intentions for the day. Depending on your drink and if you chant a few words, it could turn into a spell 😉
Tea Drinking: I love a hot tea in the evening. Some witches correspond different herb and flavors to their needs. Some like to drink kombucha throughout the day. Some make sun tea. There are so many ways you can direct your energy with tea. Not to mention teas helpful for divination, and tasseography (divination through tea leaf readings).
Aromatherapy: Whether with fresh flowers and herbs, incense, candles, or an essential oil diffuser, it’s not that hard to enjoy some daily aromatherapy. You will experience benefits that include reducing anxiety, easing depression, boosting energy levels, speeding up the healing process, eliminating headaches, boosting cognitive performance, inducing sleep, strengthening the immune system, reducing pain, improving digestion, or increasing circulation. To pair aromatherapy with your jewelry, you can get a pendant oil diffuser or a bracelet with some lava beads to hold some skin safe essential oils.
Walking barefoot: Earthing/Grounding connects you to the earth’s free flowing electrons. I am unable to do this because I live in the city and there is too much broken glasses and the danger of needles. But when I go camping, I definitely run around barefoot like I did growing up on the farm. It’s so energizing!
Humming: “Humming combined with breath is a powerful way to release and let go of stuck energy and tension. Great for clearing and refreshing your throat chakra” It also improves your sinus health! Humming slows down your breathing rate significantly. Research shows, we normally breathe 15-17 times in a minute but with humming you can bring it down to 4-6 a minute which helps to slow down your heart rate and brings down your stress level. I like to hum when I’m cooking, driving, and I’ll hum along to the music at work. I tend to just hum the base notes so they are long, in rhythm, and in harmony with the tune. Lots of witches will hum during circle casting or while in the kitchen to help raise the energies.
Anything involving nature: going on a walk, watering your plants, stopping to admire some flowers, hanging out with animals, watching the sunset/sunrise, stargazing, etc. are all witchy and connecting yourself to Mother Gaia and/or the Cosmos.
Listening to Music: It’s part of the Quadrivial Arts, the Crossroads, the very core from which all paths of knowledge cross.
Working with numbers: Numbers and geometry are also part of the Quadrivial Arts, so whether you are an accountant, a cashier, or just doing your homework, you are doing some witchy stuff.
Your daily horoscope: Astrology is the fourth part of the Crossroads of the Quadrivial Arts. All four are the basis of the skeleton key to unlocking all spell craft. But checking in to your personal journey in the cosmos is a helpful guide along your journey through the universe.
Checking the weather: yes, it’s witchy. Knowing what is going on with the climate around you is an act of attunement to nature. And then you know how to coordinate your witchy outfit for the day.
These are so wonderful for spoonie witches as well!! 💗✨
Burn Frankincense, Orange Peel, and Sage if you are having creative blockages or feel yourself slipping into a depression, these will help lift your spirits and feel motivated again!
I love the witchblr community but sometimes witches share spells, recipes and “how-tos” without doing the proper research first. So I just wanted to share some of my safety tips when it comes to witchcraft.
✔️ Always research any herbs or other plants that are in spells, recipes, or rituals that you find online. Sometimes witches (unintentionally) share information that isn’t correct or that they haven’t researched themselves. It’s always best to do your own research when it comes to anything that you will be ingesting or putting on your skin.
✔️ Be wary of purchasing spells or anything related to witchcraft or the occult that is “intangible” online. I’m not saying don’t buy them but make sure you do a little background checking (check the seller’s social media accounts, blogs and shop) before you commit to any purchases.
✔️ Don’t bury jars. This is more of an earth safety tip but just don’t bury any plastic or glass containers. They don’t biodegrade. Instead opt for something made from organic materials like cotton, wool or paper. And make sure whatever you bury is safe for the earth 🙂
✔️ If you’re burning incenses or herbs make sure your in a well ventilated area. Open your window, or back door (if you can). And it’s advised that you don’t burn anything around small animals, their little baby lungs can’t handle the smoke.
✔️ If you want to start a garden, or get indoor plants and have pets be sure to research and make sure the plants aren’t poisonous to your fur babies. Just because a plant isn’t poisonous to us, doesn’t mean it’s not poisonous to your pets.
✔️ Also research crystals, if you plan to work with them. If you plan to make elixirs with them be sure they aren’t poisonous and that they are suitable to be in water. You don’t want to ruin your shinny pretties lol.
✔️ Always, always, always do your research. Make sure that whatever you’re putting in your body or on your body (or your pets body) is safe.
✔️ Never leave a candle unattended <— this is just common knowledge but I wanted to throw this in here because I ruined many altar clothes because of this lol.
That’s all the witch safety tips I can think of right now. If you have more, feel free to add on to the list. And please be safe.
🌄Morning Witchcraft☀️: how to connect to the elements
These are some of my tips for connecting to the elements in the morning before school, work, busy days, or just a day at home. It’s also handy for witches like me who prefer to work in the morning and daytime 🌞
☁️Air-
💨wake up at dawn if you can (dawn is the time that correspondes with air)
💨pick a perfume that correspondes with your intent for the rest of the day
💨listen to some music to set intent for the day and energize yourself
💨get some fresh air and let the crisp morning air invigorate and center you
💨light incense that correspondences with your intent of the day
💨enjoy the morning bird chirping
💨do a daily divination reading to get a feel for what to expect for the rest of the day
💨incorporate almonds, honey, strong scented herbs like dill, or eggs in your breakfast
Water🌊-
💧have a cup of tea or some water when you wake up
💧take a shower or bath and let it cleanse you
💧take a morning swim if you can
💧moisturize with lotion that correspondes with your intent for the day
💧make a water bottle of infused water (with the herbs/fruits of your intent) to carry around and keep you hydrated for the day
💧collect morning dew
💧pick a seashell that correspondes with your intent for the day to carry around with you
💧sing! (to connect to mermaids and warm up your voice for the day)
💧incorporate apples, berries, salt, fish, or avocado in your breakfast
Earth🌳-
🌿take a walk or jog
🌿do some yoga
🌿pick a crystal that correspondes with your intent for the day to carry with you
🌿ground yourself
🌿take care of your plants (water them, talk to them, etc.)
🌿do a prosperity spell for the day
🌿spend time with your pets
🌿use plant based products or make your own if you can (like shampoo, soap, makeup, etc.)
🌿incorporate nuts, beans, roots (like ginger), and greens (like spinach and kale) in your breakfast
Fire🔥-
🕯light a candle to set your intent for the day
🕯enjoy the morning sunshine, feel it’s warmth
🕯do some makeup or fashion magic when you’re getting ready
🕯meditate with the Sun
🕯take vitamins and/or medications
🕯stay warm with hot teas, hot showers, blankets, etc. (the morning can be a bit chilly)
🕯use the sunshine as a positivity and happiness spell and let it charge you for the day
🕯carry a tealight with you (you never know when you’ll need one)
🕯incorporate citrus and spices (like cinnamon, peppers, etc) into your breakfast
If you are sealing an envelope with wax, use unscented candles/ wax. The oils in scented candles will bleed through your envelope paper. I just tried this and trust me; oil stains are not aesthetically pleasing.
Can someone explain how you burn an herb?
If something calls for mugwort, how do I burn it? Do I need it to be in oil form?
Let me tell you the best damn way to burn small amounts of herbs for a ritual.
A metal tea strainer just like the one above.
Put just a pinch of herbs inside. Hold the mesh over a candle for several moments. You will be able to see the herbs begin to burn. If you just need a little smoke, they will smoke immediately and go out quickly when removed from the flame.
If you need a lot of smoke, let the herbs turn in to embers (they will not really catch fire). In this form you can carry the tea strainer all around a room to smoke it out, or place it on a fire-safe surface such as a baking dish or pan so it can smolder safely.
Really only use a small amount of dried herbs!
When experimenting with burning herbs, I advise you to open a window. Rooms can get smokey really quickly and it isn’t mystical, it’s uncomfortable. Also try not to set off any smoke alarms.
If you do not have a strainer like this at home, they can be got for just a couple of dollars at any store with a kitchen section.
