Reminder for young witches that…

mintywicca:

Simply cleaning your home or room is enough to allow good energy into your home! (it’s also good with witches who deal with mental illness like depression or anxiety! it’s trouble starting but doing it slowly is great!)

Open a window and grab a duster and dust out the negative energy!

maybe light a good smelling candle (yellow is good for this)

play some music to help you through and fill your home with good vibes!

Charge some sigils in sunlight as you clean!

vacuum the carpet! (i saw a cool post where adding baking soda and essential oil to the carpet makes it extra clean and smell nice!)

Charge your phone, and organize apps!
make to-do lists!

organize your grimoire/bos or any note book you keep notes in!

charge your crystals and tools if you wish!

make some coffee or tea (or chocolate milk!!!) and sit on your bed or chair for rest!

clean your clothes and be neat!

reorganize your altar!

refresh your offerings or plants!!

clean your computer screen and keyboard!

refresh batteries in anything!

charge your tarot cards!

chat with your deity or spirit companion or familiar!

clean out anything old!

take dishes out of your room!

take out your trash!

cleanse your room if ya want!

Back at the end of October, @swampseer, @upthewitchypunx, & I chatted briefly about the concept of having a particular jacket as a piece of armor to wear when engaging with the world.

The discussion about it was fairly short, since we were having a larger conversation, but I feel like ESPECIALLY now, a discussion of ways to build armor or protection magically would be especially welcome.

I’m not a great person to start this discussion, since I’m currently in the phase of saying “I want the thing!” without actually having done my thought about how to create it, but I invite others to join in a help brainstorm about this. (Maybe show off your armor if you already do this?)

A couple of ideas off the top of my heard are:

  • sewing/emboidering sigils onto your coat (or whatever you’re using as armor)
  • writing words of power or empowering statements, maybe onto patches, and adding those to the lining of your coat (maybe statements from friends or loved ones? things that give you courage or make you feel strong!)
  • enchanting or building a strong glamour into your coat/armor so you’re less visible as a target to those who might want to confront you about your race/sexuality/gender/etc.

Thoughts, comments, & ideas are welcome! ♥

Sewing little pockets with buttons inside jackets that you can stick talismans, charms, or stones so that it is interchangeable. But ya, enchanting the whole things is great.

I have done this!

my first denim jacket I spent 30+ hours dyeing, sewing lace and patches, and rhinestoning … I had a collection of pins and buttons from family and friends over the span of a decade.  (time spent, crafting, and gifted talismans are all part of my Crafting).

sadly, it got lost, but I have a second one I wear now that has also been dyed/sewed … just collecting more talismans for it.  🙂  (excuse the glammy photo, it/me was photographed for a promotional thing at my last crafty job, hah!)

I definitely considered it a magical talisman.  I have other jewelry I always wear when leaving my home (some that I do not take off) that is much the same.

Oh wow! THIS IS GORGEOUS. ♥

Was it just plain denim and then you dyed it? I really love the multicolored effect. Thank you for showing us. ♥

I’ve been working on this for a while, I’ve got the studs/spikes and major patches attached but I’m still undecided on the remaining small patches and pins, there’s others I’m considering but this is what I dug up for now.

Some are more Halloween oriented so I might not include those, but I haven’t made up my mind because I absolutely love Halloween.

HOLY SHIT. This looks SO good!

I still need to get a jacket to armor-ify.

💛🐝 ways to help the bees! 🐝💛

bricklebee:

hello, all~!

I just wanted to share a few things you can do to help our little friends! bees are so important, and they need our love. 💛

🏠build a bee hotel🏠

image

you can use recycled materials you have on hand to create them. ( hollowed bamboo sticks, toilet paper rolls, planks of wood, etc. ) it’s also a good craft for the kiddos. get creative & have fun with it!~

hang your bee hotel on a tree, or a high up spot where nothing can disturb it.

💧make a watering station💧

image

it’s super duper easy to do, and all you need is a shallow dish and some pretty stones! bees get thirsty, and you’ll be helping them out. especially when it gets real hot out!

🌱plant flowers and herbs🌱

image

not only is gardening fun & therapeutic for you, but the bees appreciate it too. also, you can use the flowers & herbs grown for your craft! bonus!!

here are just a few of their favorite plants:

  • basil
  • mint/catmint
  • rosemary
  • sage
  • yarrow
  • lavender
  • sunflowers
  • poppies
  • asters
  • zinnias
  • salvias
  • marigolds
  • cosmos

…and there’s waaay more! garden to your heart’s content, and watch the magic happen~

🚫don’t use pesticides or harmful chemicals on your lawn or garden🚫

image

this one is pretty self explanatory. if you want a safe environment for your bee friends, try not to use any harsh chemicals on your plants. if you have issues with destructive bugs, use organic methods to shoo the pests away.

here are a few organic alternatives to using pesticide!:

  • eggshells
  • hot peppers
  • tumeric
  • banana and orange peels

Ash Writing

nightkunoichi:

image

Ash can be used in making black ritual salt but it could also be used for writing your spells!  Curses and protection spells especially!  However, depending on what kind of ash you used, this could influence the properties!

Rose ash: This can be used to protect yourself from unwanted attentions or to help ward off unwanted, unpleasant memories.  For cursing you can use it to sour a relationship, plague them with unwanted memories or to block love from their life.

Sage ash: Really good for a strong protection or cleansing spell!  Inversely, it’s also useful for writing out a spell/curse meant to tear down someone’s defenses.

Lavender ash: Good for use in spells to promote serenity, aid in sleep and enhance spirituality/psychic awareness.  You can use this in a curse to cause spiritual stagnation and anxiety

Basil ash: Can promote a peaceful environment and prosperity.  Can use in money spells!  Basil ash writing could potentially be used in a bad luck curse and to spoil general happiness.

Rosemary ash: Great for drawing protective sigils against negative spirits.  This could also be used to draw in love interests.  The ash of rosemary could also be used to bring bad health upon your chosen target.

Thyme ash: Use in a sigil to help bring self confidence and inner strength.  Can promote courage as well and has good protective properties!  For cursing purposes, this can cause a depressed and sorrowful atmosphere.

Bay Leaves ash: Useful for protection, promotion of psychic power and for cleansing.  For curses, this could help draw back in old exes or family members that your target wanted to get rid of.  Could also be used to disrupt sleep.

Mint ash: Great to promote spiritual healing!  Can also be used to draw in success and promote energy development.  Inversely, it could also be used to bring about financial ruin.

These are just a few examples!  Happy casting!

Pretty easy magic to get whatever you want (AKA, the Polar Spell)

spiritvexer:

This
is called the Polar spell because it has two polaric sides: a
banishing and a summoning.

This
can be performed by someone from any path or faith.

You
will simply need a quiet space and a point of focus. Try to use a
unique point of focus that you only use with this spell.

For
this spell, you will banish something you don’t want, then summon
it’s opposite. Examples are poverty/wealth, loneliness/friendship, or
anxiety/peace.

This
point of focus can be anything. It could be nothing at all if you are
good at focusing your mind. If you are a witch, you may like to use a
candle flame, the witch’s compass, or some dried herbs. If you are
religious, an icon of your god or religious leader could certainly do
the trick. If you are New Age, try crystals. Choose an object that
acts as a portal to the Universe, Heaven, or the Otherworld. When you
focus on this object, your voice and thoughts are infused by the
powers of that realm, and anything you desire can become reality.

If
your path calls for it, cleanse your point of focus however you
please. If you like, use my cleansing ritual.

Hold
your point of focus and see that (imagine) it is covered with an
icky, grimy energy. Take a deep breath and imagine your breath is the
color of purification. Exhale on your focus object and see that the
grimy energy is becoming totally cleared away, being purified by your
breath and returning to a state of neutrality. Either exhale once or
three times. If for some reason you cannot stop seeing the icky grimy
energy on your object, let it rest covered in salt for three days.

While
looking at your focus object, relax and imagine that you are becoming
very connected with your realm. Let yourself be infused with the
power of that place. It is shining down on you always, and all you
need to do is accept it. In this moment of focus, you can accept it.
Think or say, “I accept my power to change the Universe.” It is
alright if you feel strange, tingly, or even a little creepy. It’s an
intense moment. Enjoy it.

Think
about what you would like to banish. Focus intently on it. Imagine it
in whatever form seems most fitting. Then imagine that something
happens to that energy which sends it away. Some examples:

  • The
energies you wish to banish are burned up in flames, and the ashes
    are blown far away.
  • The
energies are trapped in bubbles, and the bubbles carry them far away.
  • The
energies are encased in lead or cement and sink to the bottom of the
    ocean.
  • The
energies are an illusion which shatters like glass.

As
you imagine the energies being destroyed or carried away, say or
think, “I banish you, [energies]. You are exiled from my life.”
Repeat this once or however many times seems fitting.

If
for any reason, you simply cannot imagine these energies being
removed, or they seem to be invulnerable to damage, you are trying to
banish something too big or too deeply rooted. Start smaller.

Once
these energies have been properly banished, it is time to call in
their opposites to fill that blank space. Just as you did before,
vividly imagine the opposing, benevolent energies appearing in your
life.

  • Imagine
that you are holding a seed, and from the seed sprouts the energies
    you desire.
  • Imagine
that a strong wind or rain brings these energies and places them at
    your feet.
  • Imagine
that before you is an ancient treasure chest, which opens to reveal
    what you desire.
  • Imagine
that a creature of good omens carries these energies in its mouth and
drops them in to your life.

Once
the energies have “arrived,” imagine that they grow bigger and
bigger until it fills your life.

If
you cannot grow the energies, you may lack the power to do so, or
something could be blocking them. Try summoning something else that
is benevolent and healthy. In addition, try making your
visualizations more simple and with less detail.

Once
you have imagined this energy filling your entire life, do a gesture
of sealing. An example could be saying a word or phrase like “so
mote it be” or “it is done.” Or you could blink, clap your
hands, stomp your feet, or do sign language.

Send
thanks to your higher powers, leave an offering to the spirits, or do
anything else to show your gratefulness (if desired). Cover your
focus object with a cloth or within a container. Put it away. Go
ground by eating some food, doing a little physical activity, and
talking to friends.

Repeat
this quick spell once a day until you see the forces in your life
changing. For a small banishment/summoning, expect to see results
within a week. For a much larger scale, the timeline will naturally
grow longer.

If
this spell does not work for you within a week, send me a message and
we will troubleshoot.

Spirit Houses

da-at-ass:

lokean-witch:

I haven’t seen any posts about it, so here goes.

We as people tend to dramatise spirits. (Especially Americans let’s not even lie, there’s a huge culture around occultism and ouija and all that shit that’s been blown out of proportions.)

“They’re all evil! They must be gone, exorcised, banished!”

“DON’T PLAY OUIJA YOU’LL GET POSSESSED BY AN EVIL DEMON CREATURE.”

The truth is, a lot spirits don’t even know or care that you’re there, they have a right to be there and were probably there before you. Possessions are really, really rare. Legit ones that is.

However, minor hauntings, such as things being knocked over, spirits nicking things and putting them elsewhere, banging on walls and such aren’t really a threat, and more of an annoyance. So there’s no need to call the exorcist and put fear and negative energy into it (because the spirit feeds off your fear and only grows stronger.)

Trust me, if the haunting was really serious, it would be much more than banging or losing things.

So! How to deal with a minor haunting without getting your exorcist mallet out? The answer is simple: Build a spirit house.

Offer the noisy or cheeky spirit a home. A space of their own that they keeps them occupied and content.

There are tons of methods to build spirit houses, may it be in skulls/bones from other animals, large jars, little doll houses, an intricate structure of thread stretched over a frame, a woven cage of wicker, anything! It depends on what you can provide and also what the spirit may want/need.

The interior decor varies just as much. From a little zen garden to a shiny little room fill with mirrors, and pretty things, it depends again on what you feel is necessary. The idea is to provide the spirit with something that’ll keep it occupied through it’s beauty, intricacy or shiny qualities. Keep them amused. So make an intricate little doll house, or a miniature garden, or a mirror room, it’s up to you!

Once that’s said and done, invite the spirit into it’s home and welcome them there. From there, the annoyance should stop and the spirit may even become willing to aid you in your magical workings!

Next time, consider that before being scared out of your wit and feeding bad energy into it. Sometimes, call it takes is a little compromise!

Oh, and PRETTY PLEASE send me pictures of your spirit homes! I’d love to see them.

I take this to a further level and feel my house is not occupied by enough spirits so I buy haunted objects from thrift stores and set aside spaces for spirit occupation. One of those “garden pagoda” statues is in my garden for land-based spirits to take refuge in/have as territory and it’s made the corner garden much more pleasant and secured against people on the sidewalk who walk by. (In fact it’s an imitation of the japanese version of a spirit house, but the garden decor section at Fred Meyer doesn’t advertise that.)

A haunted home is a secure home! Spirits help keep watch for you and make the place less lonely. Give them a board game and they’ll stop knocking on the ceiling for fun.

I LOVE THIS

Oohh nice

thiskitchenwitch:

Whew, finally back from school! Now that I’m free, it’s time to reassemble one of my best
school essentials for next quarter—tiny, reusable packets of herbs that are
perfect for spells on the go (or spicing up a dull meal…what’s the difference,
really?).

While I love the look of tiny bottles for portable ingredients, they’re
not as space-saving as these repurposed straws. So though my best staples get
bottled for easiest refills, I like to keep the odd ingredient (or extra
backups of the classics) rattling around in my pockets like this! Some things to keep in mind:

  • Only melt the ends as they’re separated from the herbs by
the pliers/tweezers—food safe plastic or not, you still don’t want that melting
    on your ingredients!
  • Most straws work for this, but thin plastic straws may
warp and bubble further up the tube before the ends seal shut; try a few tests,
    and heat with care.
  • While I always carry around a pen knife, if you don’t,
consider keeping these in a little pocket tin with a razor blade for easy
opening. Cutting the small notch in the end is pretty effective for
fingers-only opening, but may cause leaks in fluid-filled packets and should be
avoided in those cases. Small, neat incisions with a knife also make for easier
    sealing for reuse!

EDIT: while I didn’t touch on it too much here, I also use these to prepare ready-made spells. If you’re doing this, consider matching the color of the candle and straw to the spell intent!
