OK BUT WHY ARE WE LEGIT SLEEPING ON AERIAL DANCER LANCE THOUGH?
LIKE DAMN THIS BOY IS FLEXIBLE
Alright I take aerial silks and lET me tELl yOu that’s not just flexible that is stRENGTH!!
Those first two he’s only using his grip strength and aRms to keep him up, thE FIRST ONE IS AN INVERSION! And I can’t see what his other arm is doing and since there’s not a second silk like regular vertical silks he might simply be doing that with oNE arM?! NO BIG DEAL OKAY?!? You also need mega shoulder strength to hold that and core strength to keep you so straight up and down like that
The second image you can see the rope go over his foot, generally you then press your other foot on top of that making like a foot rope sandwich to help support you buT HES POINTING THAT TOP LEG, AND IN THAT CURLED UP POSE- DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH CORE STRENGTH THAT REQUIRES?? AND HIS ARMS AGAIN ARE THE ONLY THING SUPPORTING HIM?????????? THIS POSE IS LIKE THE PULL UP-CRUNCH MEGA WORKOUT
FiNALLY the last one he’s got his feet wrapped so it’s not oNly his arms and grip strength, I’m relieved. /I/ was getting exhausted just looking at these. HowEver, you aGain you need a lOT of core strength for this otherwise you end up throwing everything into your back and can really hurt your shoulder and back doing so. (Also I’ve heard that pose on Lyra ((essentially a hula hoop hanging from the ceiling)) called “Mermaid” incase you wanted that, you’re welcome)
NOT TO MENTION ALL OF THIS IS AT INCREDIBLE HEIGHT SO ITS NOT LIKE HE CAN JUST LOWER DOWN ONTO A MAT IF HE GETS TIRED AND COULD GET V HURT IF HE WAS NOT PREPARED/SKILLED/STRONG ENOUGH
Tldr: Aerial Silks requires immense strength and I a circus student can confirm Lance McClain is incredibly strong and practiced in this.
(Note: I have not seen season four yet so my analysis is solely on these photos)
