Im officially advocating for the return of follies. They were very popular among the upper classes in france and britain during the 18th century. Greco-roman temples were incredibly popular which is why i mention it. And technically building laws are lax(at least here) as it could be considered a garden feature. This would be an idea for polytheists with some building skill or money

(Pictured is Milton’s Temple An Ionic temple built in 1755 in Mount Edgcumbe Park)

TBH that’s kind of what I plan on eventually doing when I own my own place and have the land I want for it

Tbh if i had the 9k for the ones i found online id be building it asap lol I already want a little grotto area with a pond hidden from view but this would be perfect. With like benches and a firepit as well as statues (those would probly not be in the ‘temple’ itself just because garden statues are huge)

I want a garden surrounding a Greco-Roman inspired gazebo for the temple space. And I actually want an open area in the center of the gazebo roof so i can have my brazier in the center of the temple, and a sunken altar area in front of the temple for khthonic offerings/rituals

I want it to be functional for family dinners and stuff too so id rather the fire pit outside the temple since that would be kinda a sacred place. And i love trees and ivy and flowers so it would be surrounded by those and i would have to have a koi pond because i want one anyway. Id probly have a cobblestone path through the jungle that my back yard would be

In The Not So Distant Future, Glow-In-The-Dark Trees Could Replace Street Lights

Is that… is that even healthy?

There are sea organisms and fungi which glow in the dark and there’s fireflies and jellyfish which glow in the dark. It doesn’t do them any harm nor does it do the people around them any harm. I would say its pretty healthy, as well as it would mean more photosynthesis happening in cities which mean cleaner air.

I was just curious about how they were doing it and for some reason I didn’t think to click the link. But thanks! It makes more sense now. I was afraid it was some kind of chemical thing.

nah just genetic modification using existing bioluminescent genes. Genetics is really cool, and so is bioluminescence. I mean they’ve already made pigs glow using jellyfish genes and pigs are waaay more complicated than trees iirc. So they’re actually (i think) less likely to muck it up with trees.

In which case

GLOWY

FORESTS

GLOWY

TREES

GLOWY

EVERYTHING

(I like glowy things)

All hail the mighty glow tree

All hail the glow tree
