Grommot’s Nasty Bath

grommot:

Please don’t get me wrong for a second! I’m a beauty witch. I love pink and flowers and pretty spells and laying out alters and being sweet and the crushing on the moon yadda yadda.

B U T

I’m also becoming more comfortable with the maintinence of this path which entails, for me at least, getting a little down and dirty with the self.
Much like the physical body, the spiritual self gathers grime. The more you live, the dirtier you get. I have anxiety! I have to defend myself and confront my own thoughts on the reg. I get into arguments and goof off and mess up. There are things I do that I have to forgive myself for. And that’s just the things I think of as harmful. Ever crash from being too happy? Witchcraft, such as life, is messy messy work!
So I acknowledge this side of life by taking a bonk-ass ugly bath. I know that the consensus seems to be that a bath is you-time, and should therefore be pretty and soft. I disagree! Here there be no glitter, no sweet sights, no fragrant flowers. Sometimes it feels good to wallow and come out clean. I take this bath as often as I feel the need. It’s discreet and really cleansing. It’s a reminder to not only forgive the ugly, but relish it.

What I use:

🛁 Powdered clay or a little dirt. I use benonite clay to make my own masks, and it comes in powdered form for easy peasy incorporation. Plz no dirt that has been treated with pesticides. If you can’t access dirt like this, cascarilla works too!

🛁 Epsom salts, whichever scent. I use eucalyptus and spearmint because it cuts through bad thoughts like a knife through fog.

🛁 Your usual cleaner, but not enough to foam. I use cetaphil.

🛁 Whatever crystals you want. I use my quartz point, because I usually have it with me anyhow.

How to:

🛁 Run the water and ask it to draw out blockages, harmful energies, or anything you need to let go of. This water found its way through your pipes and into your bath. It will listen if you ask with a sweet voice.

🛁 Sprinkle in some of your clay, literally a dash. Ask the clay to draw our lingering energies.

🛁 Put a little of your facial cleanser into the water to add a personal touch, and to remind yourself that it’s always necessary to do the washing up.

🛁 Sprinkle in the salts, and ask them to fill you with calm.

🛁 Set your crystal on the rim of the bath, or under the water if it’s cool with that.

🛁 Have a nice soak. If you feel the need to confront some ugly truths, now is the time to give them to the water.

By the time you’re satisfied, the water should not be clear. Mine is usually a murky grayish-yellow, but that’s ok! Drain the water and hop in the shower, because there’s no way that bath cleaned your body. Delight in it! You might be feeling better now, lighter.

Remember that everything is a cycle. We clean ourselves off just to become dirty again. This is part of the experience, an for that reason we should greet it with a little celebration. 💖
