spiritofally:

Back in middle school, my friends and I used a very simple coded language for writing secret messages. I saw some posts about needing to hide one’s beliefs from partners/bosses/parents so I wanted to share it with you! These would also be great to incorporate into sigils since they are simple lines and dots.

I recently posted a sigil for boosting and it sparked a lot of curiosity in regards to my method, so I will explain. The original method was described on runesoup, but I’ve expanded it a bit, as I am wont to do. Please excuse the grodiness of my keyboard- its old and has been present for many studio-related incidents.

The first thing you do is decide what you’re trying to communicate. In this case its a matter of deadlines.

Which is currently sideways because of mobile. I like my statements to be in the present tense and commanding.

Now cross out all the vowels.

And now any letters that repeat

You now have your statement reduced to basic letters. Now decide on a basic shape. This is where your personal symbolism comes into play. Because this is meant to increase productivity, I choose an upright  triangle as the basic shape. This is where we get creative. Placement of the letters can be a hard place to start, so I start looking for letter combinations that have their own symbolism. In this instance, I combine the M and W on top of each other to create an infinity symbol

Just keep adding letters until you’ve used them all up.

And emphasize them with a pen or marker.

You now have the base symbol for meeting deadlines. Because I did not keep the outline of the triangle, I can use this to make more specific sigils. This is where I deviate from the method that runesoup outlined for me.  Now take your more specific goal and repeat the first few steps:

reduce these to single consonants again and place them outside of the base sigil

And now we have a unique, really awesome sigil for a specific goal. I personally like having single-use sigils because I feel that if they wear out quickly, there isn’t much riding on one little squiggle to do all the work.

And that’s the thing. Go cause some mayhem or whatever it is  you kids do today.
