If you cannot find representations for a given element, remember…
You are supported by a rigid skeleton made of minerals. You are earth.
Your body is over 70% fluid. You are water.
Your lungs take in and expel breath. You are air.
Your blood is warm and your brain runs on electrical impulses. You are fire.
Your essence, however you describe it, resides within you. You are spirit.
You are composed of gifts from every element, and every element is given marvelous life in you.
Never feel that you are insufficiently magical for lack of icons or accoutrements or accessories.
You are ALWAYS magic. You are ALWAYS enough.

Tips for beginner witches
Where to start? This is the most common question i receive. I understand how overwhelming the craft can be! There are so many different components, and you can rest knowing your education will NEVER be complete. You will continue to learn new things all the time, and there is no rush to the order in which you learn! Cool down, and take some time to really fall into theory before jumping into practice. Its very important to read as much as you can, from as many sources as possible. Here are some of the many things you can research:
- Crystals & their uses
- Color correspondences
- Different kinds of Magic
- Different kinds of witches
- Tools
- Moon Phases
- Planets/Celestial Bodies
- Witch History
- Herbs & their uses
- Plants that are naturally abundant in your area that you can use in magick
- Energy
- Meditation and Visualisation
- Astral Projection
- Deities
- Tarot cards and other forms of divination
- Symbols (runes, sigils)
- Theban alphabet
- Incense and Oils
- Animals and what they represent
- Sabbats
- Cleansing, charging and consecration of tools
- making mundane things magical
There are so many more things, so feel free to add in anything I missed or that you personally find important.
Witchlings, please ask me any questions you may have as i am happy to answer to the best of my knowledge. I will be putting up more educational posts over the next few weeks, so please ask or message me if theres anything specific you’d like me to cover. I’ll more than likely have a post for each of the bullet points above.
Blessed be!
Transmasculine Witch tips
•Make or find a sigil for appearing masculine. Put that shit on ur binder, clothes tags, pictures of yourself, and anything you wear often
•Want masculine swim gear? Tell people u want swim shorts b/c they have pockets to collect sea glass/shells in. Bonus: you can now collect cool ocean things you find.
•Make or request a name sigil for your correct name. Write it everywhere.
•Pyrite is a great stone for masculine energy.
•Have a masculine smelling cologne/perfume? Enchant it to be a potion to ward off dysphoria. Spray some on in the morning and feel like a cool dude.
•Don’t have access to masculine cologne? Make some! Cedarwood, ginger, sandalwood, juniper berry, frankencense, and rosemary essential oils r magical and smell like Man! Throw in some lavender or ylang ylang for a lil flowery smell if ur into that.
•Don’t wanna call urself a witch? That’s fine. Ur a warlock now. Or a wizard. Sounds badass
•Wanna call urself a witch but ur not a girl? That’s alrighty pal, the term witch is gender neutral. Anyone can be a witch
•Carry an acorn. It’s symbolic of strength and transition. Someday you’ll be a strong oak tree
•Witchy cloaks r great for hiding hips and chests. Also pointy hats make you look taller.
•Ground yourself often, especially when you’re feeling extra dysphoric.
•Track your menstrual cycle along with the moon cycle. You’re a werewolf now.
•Draw yourself as a cool powerful masculine witch/warlock. Give urself cool magick powers like lightning or lazer eyes. Put it up somewhere only you’ll see it. Remember that you’re super powerful and stronger than dysphoria.
•Enchant your bedroom door so no girls can pass through (I’d advise making a on/off switch with this in case u want a girl in your room). Walk through your door. You ain’t no girl. Your room is Boy Town now.
•Light tree incense (juniper, cedar, arborvitae, etc) in your room. Now it smells like boy and you smell like boy, congrats. Also you’re cleansed.
•Make a self poppet. Dress it how you wish you could dress. Give it hugs. Give it hair and give it a haircut.
•Trans boy and nonbinary witches r damn cool, don’t you forget it.
“Where do I start?”
The question I receive the most in regards to witchcraft is, “Where do I start?” so I decided to make a quick guide on the most helpful areas to me as a beginner.
Visualization – Learn to use and work with your imagination. Visualization is used in pretty much every aspect of witchcraft.
Intent – Learn how to formulate a well-constructed goal for your spell work.
Grounding and Centering – Learn to ground to release energy; Center to focus and bring yourself back to reality.
Channeling – Learn the various energies you can channel or draw from and how they can correspond with your intent.
Protection – Learn about shields and wards, from putting them up and taking them down to the different methods of protection – this can involve the use of various magickal components such as herbs or crystals. A method of protection should be employed before all acts of spell work, in my opinion.
Different types of magick – Learn about the different types of magick and make note of what your interests are – there are SO many paths to choose from.
Divination – If it’s something you’re interested in, research different methods of divination: some good starter methods IMO include scrying, pendulum, runes, and tarot cards.
After you’ve got some idea of your witchy interests, do some further research! See what path is right for you, and expand on it.
10 Terms Every New Witch Should Know

- Center- Usually done after Grounding. To calm your emotions, Mind, and Body to be physically and magically aware.

- Intent / Intention – Your goal, Or purpose for spell work.

CAN WE JUST COMPILE A LIST OF CANDLE ALTERNATIVES?
As a witch who has lived in a dorm, I know first hand how craptastic it is to live in a place where candles are not a possibility. Especially when every spell or ritual calls for 35725382 different colors and types of candle.
Here are some alternatives I’ve used plz add to this list:
A doodle of a candle
A scrap of fire-colored paper
A gif of a candleLED/battery-operated candles
Virtual candles (seriously, I have a free candle app on my android phone and it’s amazing. You can change the colour of the candle/smoke/background, blow or “pinch” out the flame, change the height of the flame… It’s amazing.) (There’s also the witch school virtual candles page – if you can stand it!)
Visualisation
Wax burners are helpful if you want a specific scent. Some dorms don’t allow those though but most are chill about them.
Flashlights?
Music! Especially binaural beats, but really any music that evokes the energy you are trying to capture with the candle.
I like the way you think
If you feel like you’re not strong enough, call on earth
If you feel cold, call on fire
If you feel negativity, call on water
If you feel you cannot grasp your future or talent, call on air
If you feel you aren’t connected to yourself, call on spirit
It is okay if you have to call on all five. You can do this.
I love this. You aren’t alone, folks.
Witch tip #9
Before casting a spell and after cleansing your space, rig a bell three times. This attracts positively charged energy that will assist you in your spell.
Cool thing that ringing a bell does as well: it casts out bad energy. In my experience, making noises such as clapping or ringing bells breaks up pockets of negative energy (real or imagined). Bells are great!
Yeah I use bells to cleanse my space and it works great to get some good sound waves pushing energy for me.
